Help Buggy after updating to 4.3

I'm using a Nexus 4 and yesterday I received the 4.3 update which I was stoked about. However after using my phone throughout the day I noticed a few things were playing up. Some of widgets wouldn't work at all and now the phone is super sluggish and the widgets aren't working properly again.

I've tried restarting the phone but that doesn't help. Anyone having any similar issue?

Regarding sluggish performance:
Leave it plugged in overnight so in can charge. This will assure the new TRIM memory management will kick in. TRIM is basically like defragging your memory and will only start when it detects the phone has enough power and has not been used for a while.

Regarding widgets:
If they are still sluggish after letting TRIM kick-in, try removing the widget and then adding it again. What apps are they? If those apps have not been updated lately, it could be a matter of not being optimized for 4.3. But replacing the widget may adjust it.

Thanks for this I'll leave it overnight and see how it goes. I've tried removing and re-addng the widgets and that worked for a bit. Thing is it's played up with I think two or more widgets form various developers so my logic leads me to believe it could be a OS issue.

No problem.

Yeah a factory reset will remove everything so transfer any pictures and videos you don't want to lose to your pc. Apps can be backed up and restored using helium backup

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup&hl=en_GB

Also make sure your contacts are backed up to Google.

thanks this will be my last option if all else fails. However its running perfectly know. I'll use that TRIM method tonight and if it's still playing up then factory reset it is. cheers!

Question I pose to everyone with 4.3 issues — Are y'all using Nova Launcher by any chance? I'm trying to isolate the problem and I'm pretty certain it could be this launcher
So I've been having trouble with the Power Control widget.
  1. When I try to toggle wifi the underlying setting IS changing but the indicator is not. I think the same may go for Bluetooth as well.
  2. I am using Nova Launcher
  3. I did the factory reset last night after coming across this thread
  4. I STILL have the same problem

Removing and re-adding the widget works but only temporarily.
I've since been getting used to using the pull down menu to set wifi on and off.

Edit: I'm going to try using the stock launcher for today and see how it goes but I DO notice that the indicator for Wifi turns on IMMEDIATELY using the stock launcher compared to the delay when using Nova.

since updating i now cant use the phone dialer app

a factory reset will hopefully fix it, but it's such a PITA to do.

I had this but found it to just be a problem with the shortcut on the homescreen, removed and readded and it was fine :)

I've tried fixes including restarting my phone and re-adding widgets. They do work but my phones still not running consistently. I don't want to have to worry about my widgets playing up whenever I use it

Let us know how it goes Omar. I really cbb factory restting, there shouldn't be a need to

Yes, realised that was problem. Thought it was something much worse like the update had messed with the core apps!

I had to factory reset my N4 after the 4.3 update. My phone kept getting less and less reliable. Most notably, it would periodically refuse to wake up when pressing the power button. If I rebooted the phone it would work for several hours, but then eventually, it would stop responding to the power button again.

Had to do a factory reset, always a pain since Google only ever seems to re-download about half my apps, but it's been working without any issues the past 3 days now.

Anyone else had problems with the phone not responding to the power button? Given I had a N1 before this which was notorious for bad power buttons, I'm a little paranoid about this.
