Optimus Elite no more?

I see Virgin Mobile no longer has the OE on their website.

I presume they have stopped selling them.

Virgin Mobile | Compare No Contract Android-Powered and Feature Phones

The Elite may be gone. It is hard to tell with Virgin Mobile. I am pretty sure the Optimus V has come and gone a few times. Possibly the the Triumph, too. That said, I am pretty sure both of those phones were/are much more popular than the Elite and had higher production runs.

I would love to know how the model selection, production, and availability decisions are made.

Yeah its been EOL at Sprint already for sometime. The good news here is if you have to get a warranty replacement you'll get an upgrade when they run out of refurbs. :D

Last week I called for a warranty replacement on an Elite, and have been waiting because they were out of stock. Today the status finally went to "fulfillment, " which means the replacement should arrive today or tomorrow. It will be interesting to see whether it's another Elite or something else. Will let everyone know! Kind of hope for an Elite, actually; I'm not interested in forcibly losing the $25 plan for that line.

If they replace it with something other than an Elite, it would be interesting to know if they force you out of the $25 plan. Please post what happens.

The replacement arrived today, and is in fact another Elite. If there are problems with this one (the one it's replacing overheated to the point of burning my daughter's hand! ) I will ask for a different phone to replace it.

If I had gotten something other than an Elite, I have no doubt the swap would have triggered a change to the $35 plan. It is, after all, the type of phone which triggers that change. The only way around it would be to make a call to customer service and plead my case... and I haven't heard of any case where that's been successful.

I got a replacement Elite about a month ago that was probably a refurb, as it came in a brown box. The screen started having bubble problems and they replaced it again with new one still in the retail packaging. It has been working well so far. Refurbs can be a bit of a crap-shoot.

I suspect that since the Elite is coming to end-of-life, they are getting/collecting returns from retail outlets that are still new in the box and sending those out as replacements as they get them back.
