Hmm, the info I read was from a former cell phone company manager. He said the phones are cheap, fake plastic with NO internal components, etc.
I am sure multiple companies make dummy phones so maybe there dummy phone is. OR they could be saying that to get you to buy it, whether it is or isn't. They sell dummy phones for a lot of money, it's kinda ridiculous.
Ok, well I'm gonna dummy up now and move on to my actual work here. Cheers!

You're missing the effing point!

The official numbers don't mean shit. I don't care if it says it weighs 1 oz. If it FEELS like it weighs 10 then that sucks.

The reason about the dummy phone is because IF IT IS weighted to official specs it feels heavier than I thought. I don't personally like that. I am not putting the phone down, just my own opinion.

If the dummy phone IS NOT weighted to official specs then I don't have to worry and have something to look forward to.

The numbers are pointless to me (when it comes to physical aspects) its how it feels in hand/pocket and how it looks.

Whoa, calm down there buck-o.

I'm not missing you point at all. The official specs do matter, well, because they're the official specs of the official phone, the phone that will officially be in your pocket. You're getting caught up over a dummy phone weighing maybe a quarter of an ounce more than you expected (or whatever it may be). I'm just emphasizing that you should wait until you get the actual phone in hand, ya know?

Thanks man, I am sure you're right. I have high expectations for this thing. I don't want to be let down ya know? I wasn't trying to be a dick with the inital post, just trying to get some insight. Keep my hopes up.

No worries man, I understood what you were getting at the entire time. Everyone has certain expectations, and when you felt the dummy phone you were probably let down - rightfully so. Just wait for the real thing and I

I got yelled at by my CSR for calling in to Verizon too much about my Incredible pre-order. No one can understand why the MY VERIZON is messed up and showing an upgrade. My order number is valid. That guy is probably going to get 2 phones. People should quit yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater. Now I feel like an ass...

EDIT: I can't wait until this thing comes, so I can get back to worrying about important things like figuring out why my tractor won't start and why my paycheck isn't direct deposited into my account.

Dude, you may need to read what I wrote again. I was agreeing with you. The phone manufacturers use the term ROM when they should really use NVRAM, non-volatile RAM. Though the chips they use are probably somewhere between the two in operation. The industry and the consumers have decided to use the term ROM even though it isn't technically correct.

<------ Returns to lurker mode before he gets hurt.

It is all good :) I was referring to all folks, since it is kind of lame for the industry to call it "rom" in the first place. It is actually a flash-rom :)

Of course, the Inc is like the N900 and really has three types:

1. ram
2. flash rom (fast 512mb)
3. Navi (8gb) Slower than the 512mb flash-rom, but as fast as class 6 cards, if not better.

N900 has a lot more, but still same premise.

Just called VZW online sales team about my order and phone upgrade eligibility because my upgrade reset on the VZW website, after i gave them my Order Confirmation Number they said the order was still placed and that I should not worry about the online Upgrade resetting. The lady said that they are 90% sure they will be shipping these orders on the 26th and not the 28th!!! she said that if i really wanted to be sneaky i could try to place another preorder because it would go through and i could possibly have 2 incredibles sent to my house????? was she drunk ???????? either way, she said i should expect my phone a day or few early being delivered to my house !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:) :) :) :) :)

Roger that... I wonder if the people who lost their order, put it through on the web site before midnight on the 18th like I did?

I put my order in at 11:41 EST on 4/18 and it's still there. I wonder if these people ever got an email confirmation and an order number? The site was really messed up when I ordered on Sunday night. They could have talked to a telesales rep. The Telesales reps DO NOT have access to Incredible pre-orders. When I first called I was told no order exists. They had to call the E-store to confirm the order. I don't know, but stop giving me heart failure.

Okay, I was concerned like the rest of you about my preorder. I ordered mine at about 11:30pm on Sunday night, April 18th. I also got the "tax cannot be calculated at this time" message on my confirmation email. My status has not changed on the order status page, still getting "Your order is waiting approval..." message and MyVerizon is also reset, allowing me to do another full preorder if I wanted. All this talk of cancel preorders had me worried a bit, so I called first thing this morning. According to the CSR I spoke to, he verified with the Internet Orders Dept. that my order was safe and sound in their system and their is nothing to worry about. So everyone should relax a little and breath easy. If you are uber concerned anyway, give 611 a call and hear it from the horses mouth. Anyway, I'm glad to know my order is still good and I don't have to reorder. Now back to my impatient waiting game I'm playing.

Yeah I called a little while ago, because I was curious to know if my order was still in there. I Had CSR transfer me to Internet Sales Department, they said my order was still in there. Also they said the reason why I could upgrade again is because you technically don't use your upgrade until you activate the phone first. So that is why we are able to upgrade again on the Verizon site.

I know someone else said that earlier but I figured I would say it again, since this is what the rep told me.

Now hopefully everyone can calm down, and just go crazy about what day/time they are going to actually receive their phones.

I put mine in just about before anyone else and even posted my email confirmation on this thread. It was dated the 18th and came to me at 11:37. I even called Verizon to check on it because I had just transitioned my employer from Pfizer to J&J and J&J has a better discount. I gave the CSR my order number and they checked it for me with Internet sales, and could not find the order, so I ordered it again, (with the better discounts and now available body glove case)

If the phone comes 2-3 days late, I'm not going to lose sleep over it. I just wanted everyone to know. I know that there are some on here that would be crushed if the 29th came and no phone was delivered. :)

A csr yesterday told me that the exteneded battery would be 39.99. Who knows which is right...She said that their system doesnt even list the prices yet but they have what the expected prices will be...

One more anecdote to calm the masses...
My order also says "awaiting confirmation or phone availability" and I called *611 and they said that no more steps will be taken until they actually charge my credit card which isn't til the 27th or 28th. Then we'll get tracking numbers and order complete emails.

as a side note, Kappy, I always find the fake store models to never be the right weight and to also give a terrible keyboard feel (when they have one).

How can a phone that weighs 1 oz feel like it weighs 10? I guess that would suck, since the laws of physics don't change, thus, it's your brain that's the problem.

Between the Pre-order cancellation scare, the waiting, the tractor battery being dead and not starting, the Sears card that all of the sudden shows that I haven't paid it in 3 months and the fact that my employer's bank did not deposit my pay into my checking account......I am ready for the weekend.

Hahaha. It's funny you should mention that. I can't get my motorcycle to start (I think the carbs/intake valves are gummed up) and I don't really care. Maybe I'll care eventually...
