Decreasing brightness

I believe the default "lowest brightness" setting is actually only 10%. I use Timeriffic to change my setting based on the time of day and at night I set it to 5%. It's definitely darker than the standard lowest setting. If I leave the screen on for too long, it will even automatically "dim" to a brighter setting.

Be careful though. When I first installed it, I tried setting the brightness to 0%. Apparently this means absolutely dark. I couldn't see anything on screen and had to wait until the next morning for my "day profile" to take effect and brighten the screen.

There is a couple of apps on the market that dim your Droid, but none go below the factory setting ,I don't believe.
But I do know that if you root, there is a minimum brightness hack that you can use that dims it dramatically. But the question is, is rooting worth it?
Hope this helps.

damn, I am always on the lowest setting, far left of slide bar, and use the Power Management widget to tap up the brightness when I head outside. point is, that lowest setting is damn dim, hard to believe you would want to go less.
I can easily navigate in pitch dark with the screen on the lowest brightness setting! At night I play around on the net in the dark and this thing is blinding
