Help Can i update from ics to jellybean?

So my girlfriend is flipping out on me because i spent most my day fixing the laptop, now I'm on the phone...anyway, sorry if I'm in the wrong spot, any guidance would be much appreciated. I'm in IT but am just learning these Android os's, getting used to flash rom, etc. just saying, I'm not ******ed about the process but possibly some of the industry terms. K, here's the deal...can i install, if available, the jellybean os on my ics device? Its a Kyocera Rise from virgin mobile. Just getting screamed at, so don't have any time to research tonight-or tomorrow'...thanks for a detailed reply or just the right forum to post on! (just downloaded the app, so not even sure if I'm using this right!) THANKS

You can't install jelly bean on the rise.

Updates have to be released by the manufacturer or customized to the device by developers. We don't even have a working clockworkmod recovery or an unlocked boot loader to even get started on CM10 (jellybean) and so forth.

So the best we can do is tweak the stock ICS, there are several threads about rooting, debloating, and tweaking. In the root section.

Cool..thanks for the info. After getting the Razr a week ago and actually seeing the jellybean features I'm sure the RAM would get bogged down on the Rise anyway! Now I'm just using the Rise for practice before i root and brick a Droid RAZR!!

Reading through this post Sneaky is correct about the CWM or custom recovery not working. Which leads to no JellyBean version being created.

But I would like to correct the thought on JB not working on the device or bogging it down.

Once a CWM version is working JB development can be done. I installed Android v 4.2.2 custom rom on Samsung Exhibit with same amount of Ram. Seems the rom developer made enough tweaks to make it run good.

My point is CWM + good develop + custom rom + rise will = JB on the rise. So there is hope.

But first porting CWM needs to be done.

Hopes this helps!

Currently, its worth the extra $25 to get the F3, IMO. Just for the better screen, current generation dual core CPU, better GPU, and a pretty nice customizable optimus skin.
