Why is my battery drained so fast? Look at the attached screenshot. The screen isn't even on.

Hi norwegian82 ...

Welcome to Android Forums.

It seems that you may have a rogue or incompatible installed app. Perform a full reset of the device. Hopefully this should fix the problem.

Good luck. :)

Seriously? You'd recommend that before just doing a simple reboot? I've had this type of issue a few times (a lot more on my old Droid) and I've never had to do a full reset.

Have you checked to see if it's connecting to wifi?

This was back when I owned a Droid 2G, but I used the automatic printer setup system (I don't remember what that's called) which set up a second network on my router AND changed my existing network in a manner that my phone no longer connected. It would repeatedly connect and disconnect every 5 seconds or so, which I imagine probably used a lot of power.

So as you can see I lost 35% of my battery without really doing anything.

After trying a reboot.

I guess a reset should be the next step?

I had a similar problem with battery drain and turned out to be an app that stayed running causing a wakelock.

I installed an app called Wakelock Detector to figure out which apps are causing battery drain by either running constantly or running all the time.

You can find it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector&hl=en

OP, I notice the Clean Master icon in your notification bar. If you are using the task killer (or "1 Tap Boost") feature of that app, it could very well be the cause of your issue. Task killers are totally unnecessary in recent versions of Android, and cause drain by constantly killing off system processes that automatically restart themselves.

So before I fell asleep last night I turned off wifi and closed open applications. The battery level was then at 41%. I then locked the phone turning screen off. After 2.5 hours I'm awake and checking my phone and it's dead. Battery empty...

I'm uninstalling the "cleaner" now to see if it may be causing the trouble.

If I do a total reset - should I just restore everything afterwards or will that just cause the problem to persist? If I install all my apps.

Killers may have been unnecessary in any version of Android, but they are clearly unnecessary in a phone with 2GB of ram.

I think we may have discovered the cause.
