Root [ROM] BlueKingdom 1.4 - Updated 9/29

I'm having some issues with Google maps. The map itself will flicker when updating and sometimes the taskbar will glitch and turn partly yellow. I'm heading home from vacation, so the best I can try now is uninstalling maps and reinstalling. Has anyone else noticed this?
Also, I saw someone said that there isn't much you can do for Google Now, but using its search bar doesn't open the results when I click on one. It's like it's only programmed to use the default Android browser. Is there anyway to get it to work with dolphin? Or another browser? Otherwise that search bar on my home screen is kind of useless.

I see the same issues. You can either downgrade to an older version of maps, or bring maps to the foreground then turn your screen off then back on. Maps will work over the top of your lock screen when navigating and it doesn't jitter and tear when the screen is locked.

Google Now is pretty useless as well. I was able to get it to open into Chrome one time, but I'm not sure how. I tapped the link about a dozen times and it finally opened up when I wasn't looking. So maybe it just takes a while? I dono.

I just use GV since it gets me free voicemail too. FP's PBX doesn't allow changing your outbound caller id so there is no easy way to get it to show your GV number for outbound calls, but it is good enough for me.

I've found that to be a problem too. If FreedomPop is paying attention, that would be a feature that I wouldn't mind paying $1.99 per month.

In the meantime, thanks to your help, I've configured CSipSimple to work with FreedomPop's SIP server for receiving incoming calls, and I am using CallWithUs.com for making outgoing calls. They support changing your caller ID, charge less than 1

Okay I just want to be blantantly honest. I tried to tough out this rom for a while but my phone was constantly on its own calling random numbers, and when I left my phone alone on the lock screen it was typing random numbers. I don't want to be on here to point any fingers but I do know from experience that when someone finds themselves smarter than other people, they tend to want to hide code that no one sees that ends up "survelling" your phone. Think Im paranoid? I dont care. Im going back to stock. I would like admins to test this rom and see if they find it randomly typing things themselves and let me know why that would happen on this rom but not in stock.

Been using it for a couple weeks on 3 different phones and not had any weird issues like this.

This whole post is pretty ridiculous and instead of asking for help you automatically blame the person who made the rom.

You really don't think anyone else would notice the random typing of numbers? Who is it dialing? By the way this rom is HTC's closed source and basically the only thing I can do is remove apps, make some build and kernel tweaks and some various theme changes. You wouldn't even be able to program the dailer to do such these, please keep this trash out of the thread. If you took the time to look through this thread you would see no one else has these issues. I don't want to sound like an ass, but you making these accusations on someone who is just doing this to help an unsupported phone community is really rude, especially with no evidence to back up your claim

Would you like me to grab my camera and make a youtube video? Im curious as to what is causing this....

I would also love to see the source code of this project.... ive been wanting to see how it all works.

EDIT: Well if you are only deleting things, sorry for being an ass, why would my phone do that? I also put the rom on a friends phone and it did the same thing....

Before you do any troubleshooting you should make sure you full wipe - that includes /system /data /cache and /dalvik cache, not doing this can cause very weird issues with all phones and roms. On TWRP wipe all of those, or on CWM you do data factory reset then manually wipe dalvik cache under advanced. Make sure you backup first. Then you can show me what you are talking about.

What source code man? It's HTC's closed source ask them for the source code (you won't get it). You really aren't sure what you are talking about right now...

If I was actually building this from AOSP I could show you a github with full source. This isn't opened sourced, its sense closed source framework. You can pull open the zip file and see every single change I've done.

Im sorry about the accusation... when you get a chance email me info on how to learn how to build roms and such. I see you are working on cm10 rom or something. I want to learn but i don't know how to start. I have learned C++/C, Java in school and I may be able to write something or interpret the code ?

I don't know.... just freaked me out earlier thats all..

really? didn't know that... so thats how you basically make your own rom if I was to tweak it?

Unless you are compiling an AOSP rom (which is much harder) then you can really do some cool changes, but it takes a lot of knowledge.

This rom is HTC's closed source. Not even I can read or make changes to the sense framework. When working with stock rom really you can make some UI changes, launcher changes, remove some apps and if you are more experienced change the ramdisk and do some kernel tweaks (or make your own kernel) You can do a few more things but its really limited.

This is why what you were claiming sounded ridiculous it's not even possible for me to do such a thing. I'm not even able to get rid of the stock HTC dialer in exchange for an stock dialer because its so wrapped into the HTC sense framework that it wouldn't actually work so programming it to dial random numbers isn't going to work either

This also had no problems with my design, I did do a clear cache on the options thing followed by instructions on first page. Doesn't type randomly or any mischievous things presented since using the phone. Although vibration could be turned off with ringer just on because the vibration rocks my whole desk! It's a strong vibrator in this phone!

so what ? like since I never formatted the system partititon, a system fluke?

I still have fixes coming soon for this rom such as the front camera, just been spending a lot of time on source building. New kernel will be as soon as I make wifi build bcm4329, bcmdhd doesn't like to work on stock rom

Also, can anyone confirm when connected to wimax the signal losses its 3g text and goes blank? If so I can most likely add in a 4g symbol.

I will also look into that SIP issue.

When coming to a new rom, you need to full wipe *everything* I listed above, otherwise very weird stuff can happen when you are mixing together parts of 2 different android roms.

I encountered that with installing 4.3 JB on that xda thread. No wonder it didn't work cuz I didn't clear the Cache lol. Made this Bluekingdom rom look better which it is and more faster and stable.

I can confirm the 3g text goes away and nothing shows but the bars when on wimax. And you have to install a 3rd party widget in order to toggle wimax.

Thanks for all the work you've done on this rom. Been using a week and I really like it. But when it was installing, it said it was version 1.0 and the Android version says 4.03. Is that right? Is there a 4.3 version of Blue Kingdom? Did I actually flash 1.4?

It's 4.03 yes ICS with JB interface and other mods. There is no version of 4.3 if you're referring to JB 4.3 of B.K. no.

Not sure about what flash 1.4 is.

Just change the resolution setting in front facing camera to 1.3 mp if above that the picture will mess up

the problem is this phone doesn't even have a 2m FFC (which it defaults on)

  • Front-facing camera:
      • 1.3 megapixels

which is why it messes up on 2, I will remove it in next update (coming soon)

I don't know if anyone noticed this but i was having problems with some movies/tv playing on google play. when I did a google search the solution was to remove everything from the hosts file but to leave in the first line
127.0.0.1(just one space)localhost
Now I tried to do this on the phone using the steps but I couldn't get r/w to work. So I went into the zip for BlueKingdom and edited the zip and then flashed the edited BlueKingdom1.4.zip to my phone. Now my television show plays without a hitch. I am going to look for an app to manage ad blocking off of google play instead :)
