Lines going down s4 screen

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 which I have owned for around a week and a half. Just to clarify: I has never been dropped on a surface, floor or in water etc. I placed it in my coat pocket last night, took it out around two minutes later to find a small curved line of what look like dead pixels in the center at the top. From this line there are multi coloured vertical lines but only below, not above. If I touch certain parts of my phone the lines fade into grey but the pixels remain. I have tried an app for fixing dead pixels and one for a backlight problem but neither have fixed my problem. I have a magnetic case which some people have said it the problem because of it causing confusion with the magnets inside the phone. If anyone has any idea on how i can fix this without having to spend tonnes of money on a new screen it would be very helpful, and if you have experienced the same thing.

"Some people" have their tinfoil helmets screwed on too tight. (Cellphones don't use magnetic storage, so there's as much chance of "confusing" the magnets in a cellphone as there is of confusing the magnets in your brain. If you forgot where you left the car keys, it's NOT because the magnets in your brain got confused, regardless of what "some people" say.)

It's a warranty issue. If you're in the US, go into a Best Buy store, ask where the Samsung people are, and talk to them. If you're not, contact the warranty number in your manual.

Some LCD screens still suffer "infant mortality", going bad soon after testing. It's no one's fault, it's just the lack of perfection in things human beings do. That's what the warranty is for.

Make sure you back up EVERYTHING that you might ever want. The first step in repairing a phone is a factory reset, so there's no chance that they can steal your data. It's a good policy. If you forgot something embarrassing on the phone ... well, you don't want them seeing it.

You should always back everything up anyway - solid state memory, the kind used in cellphones, DOES fail. The only question is how soon. Old axiom in computing - any data not backed up to at least 2 devices is data you don't need. (The odds of your phone and both backup devices failing on the same day, unless they're all in a war zone or hurricane or something like that, is beyond astronomical. Especially if one of the "devices" is cloud storage.)
