Case Magnet triggers noise in Nexus 5

Hi, first time on your forums.

I recently bought a nexus 5 (very pleased) but when sliding it into its new case, I noticed the phone makes a sound when the case magnet is in contact with the back end of the phone.

The sound is always the same, a short sound, two notes going up then two going down. Is this some kind of warning? Am I damaging my phone or is this some kind of not so helpful feature that can hopefully be disabled?

Thanks for your help.:)

That's what it is. My 4 and 5 do the same noise on both of my wireless chargers.
Nothing to be alarmed from, it's just the noise saying "I'm on the charger!" so you know it's sitting on the "sweetspot".

My Nexus 5 also emits this alert to acknowledge its in the proper spot on the wireless charger. I like that, as well as the convenience of not having to plug it in.

Ha! Genius! Yeah it was indeed my credit card. The case is one of those wallet cases and the card touches the back of the case when I fold it back.

What do I do now? Can I turn it off?

You can try moving the magnetic card strip to the other side.
If the strip is on the outer edge, it will make contact on center of phone when folded over. If the strip is on the inner
edge, it will miss the phone on the back left when folded over.
