Help Auto Power On & Off

Spent yesterday evening playing around with my new Hero...Pretty cool phone. One thing I do miss from my Blackberry is the automatic power on and off. I had it set to turn off at 11 PM and back on at 6:30 AM.

Maybe the Hero does it and I just havent figured out who to do it...Or maybe theres an app???
Locale would be the closest thing to what you are talking about, but I dont believe it will actually power the device off, and back on again. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find a single app that will work when the device is off. Call me crazy, but that sounds like something that would need to be designed into the handset and at this point, I dont believe it is.

Yeah, I tried Locale but it didnt turn the sounds back on at the right time...I think it has to do with the issue that it ran into another day...I'm not 100% sure just still playing with it.

I'd be happy if it just went into a sleep mode...It doesnt need to fully power off but...That would be a plus to save battery.

This is about the only thing I miss from the Blackberry...

No, it does not. I'm not sure if a user created app could actually do this since it would probably need something at the kernel/hardware level to tell it to turn back on after it's off. I haven't gotten deep into Android app development yet to know whether this is something that's accessible on the Android API level.

Only recommendation is to charge it over night. Going to do another post about the accessories I got to make charging on the go easier, too.

Where can I find Timerrific as it's not found in a search of Android market via my HTC Hero?
I just did a "MARKET" search on "timeriffic" and it popped right up...downloaded in a couple of seconds and within 3 minutes, I was able to set the times to my personal schedule.

While I agree, this does not turn the POWER "ON" or "OFF", it shuts down the alarms and alerts. When I go to bed, I just plug in the charger and when I wake up, I am set for another day.

Symbian phones can Auto POWER ON when you set an alarm and the alarm goes off. Currently, i see no such feature in android.

However, it is interesting to know that you can actually REBOOT/ RESTART your android phone using custom build roms. I have personally tried kyrillos 9.5 which has this feature.
It means that there is a batch of instructions which instruct the phone to reboot/ restart after it has switched off. I think these instructions should be closely looked at and exploited.

Another take on this is - may be the command only logs you out from the system and logs in without actually switching off the phone completely. but i think this should not be the case since android actually boots up after taking a lot of time to load on rebooting.

Whats your opinion guys?

Hi,
I found this feature in settings of my Spice MI 270. This is similar to NoMoarPowah. It turns on/ off the phone at a scheduled time so that you can easily use the alarm even when the phone is switch off.

No phone powers off completely, not even BB which I do have and use. This feature on BB definitely goes a long way in extending times between recharges. They all go into ultra low power consumption mode to keep the clock and some alarm type application running which can trigger the device on into normal mode /sleep mode. Quite similar to the bios setting in desktop PCs.

I too have been looking for such an app and will give Timeriffic a try.
