Root [Virgin Mobile] [ROM][MK5][STOCK][ODEXED/DEODEXED]- Virgin Mobile/Boost Mobile

Struckn one question what modem should I use with the sprint touchwiz roms ??

I think I can field this one :). Use the latest available(if it'll work) and then work your way back until you find the best modem for your phone/rom/location. All modems behave differently for everyone. But if you're running MK5 or MK3(both 4.3), then you're gonna need one of those two modems. Good luck.

ISuperSu 1.86had to reflash this ROM and after doing so, I no longer have SuperUser. I flashed the updated SuperUser zip as instructed, but it isn't on the phone. I attempted to download a version from the marketplace, but it said I needed updated binaries.

Any idea what went wrong and how I can fix it?

Thanks

I had that problem as well. I flashed the latest version SuperSu 1.86 at the time and that works.

Download the supersu update, save it to your external sd card, and flash using philz latest recovery. If you're not using philz, it has been known to not play nice with some other CWMs.

There is actually an issue now with the newest recoveries not being able to flash the older 4.3 ROM's. If you are using the newest Philz (recommended) you will want to uncheck the box that says "Don't Allow Old Update-Binary" under the Install Zip menu. Otherwise, switching to a slightly older version, like 6.07.9, should work.

Thanks for the heads up. I just made note of this as I know in the future I may need to revert back and I already updated Philz to the latest version.

It's really nice jdsingle76 look out for us on this rom I love to have it as a backup but the issue I'm having was posted in the this thread here way back pretty sure it didn't get resolved is phone calls no one can here me until I put the phone on speaker so I have to go back to the mg2 for stock also I notice when I reboot the mk5 rom I get the little black screen for a second it says headphones unplugged I think that has something to do with the call cutting out and no one can hear me until I put the phone on speaker also can only use mk5 modem the other two only give me cell signal no data.

Just curious, how many people are having to do a fresh install with a wiped DATA partition? I'd rather do this as an upgrade, not a fresh install.

I've been out of the root scene for quite some time now. I dragged my feet on moving to MG2, as the "update" message from Virgin finally got to me. I had a good two months of no messages until this latest version came out. I've been saying "no" to the update message for several months now, and I'm rather tired of it.

I am just about ready to move on to a newer ROM...so I've started my research, and it's landed me here.

Also, is there any chance that right after I get on the latest, another update will come out? One of the problems of dragging your feet is that once you decide to update, there's another update around the corner, and then you drag your feet even more ;)

I did a dirty flash on this just fine. Try it. Do a backup, wipe cache and dalvik, and go for it! Should be fine

I used this to disable the OTA notification:

[How-to] Disable OTA updates on Stock + Rooted ROMs - xda-developers

I went back to 4.1.2 since I kept getting FCs. I'm not sure why I suddenly got them. It happened to me on odexed and deoxed.

I understand this will bring me back to stock does this work if i did ithe ota mk5 update and have knox then put a custom rom? its a little confusion becuase it says it doesnt include the firmware

This does NOT include the firmware, hence the reason it won't put Knox on your phone. But if you have Knox on your phone already from taking the OTA, then yes this will work, but you'll still have the Knox boot loader. Nothing that I have seen yet can get rid of that. Enjoy..

I flashed dirty to this several times, and it worked fine. And for the FC issue, if you had it running for awhile, and then all of a sudden you started getting FC, that to me sounds like an app conflict issue, not a rom issue.

Yeah, I was bummed out that Link2SD, Titanium and Wanam Xposed kept FCing when I open them. I honestly love this ROM. What struckn mentioned about philz having issues with installing old 4.3 roms..I think I'll give it a try by unchecking what he mentioned. Thank you for the rom!

I went for it. During the series of flashes, my SU update didn't work. Tried again and it failed. Booted up, and although some apps that need SU worked, the SU cheker app said I didn't have root access. So I redownloaded the SU Updater, and tried again and it failed. Said something about "Bad".

So then I decided to switch to Philz recovery. I got the same error "Bad" while trying to flash it and it failed. Can I flash Philz through CWM recovery, or do I need Odin? Also, do I need Philz in order to flash the SU Update, or should CWM be able to do it fine?

So now, I am going to restore the backup I made before I started and take another look at all this before proceeding.

I also saw Superuser in my app folder. Can you have both SuperSU and Superuser at the same time?

EDIT 2:

So after restoring, I see that SUperuser is gone and just SuperSU remains. Does this ROM come with Superuser? Would the SU Update remove that?

EDIT 3:

I'm starting to figure out what's going on. The SuperSU update to 1.8 is old and perhaps that's why it's not working for me. I found a 1.93 zip file which is my current version; it flashed fine. Also, Philz recovery from the link provided in the OP are all from 2014 and may be too new to work as prescribed? I kept seeing mention of D2LTE...and I'm not sure what D2LTE means.
