Root [GUIDE] Unbrick OR Unroot LG Motion 4G [KDZ]

When I soft bricked my motion, I had to re-flash it with the original f-firmware making it factory again. I ended up bricking by removing the metro web, so don't take that off. I believe there's a list of metro apps you can safely remove. Reflashing was fairly simple, just follow the directions

Just a heads up.

If you install one of the custom kernels for the motion you can remove any app you wan't and won't brick. ;)

You can't go attempting stuff like this with half azz stuff. I think you may have answered your own ?

Buy a new cable, try again.

is there a mirror for the device drivers file? the download wont start for me

edit:
do i need the 3.8.1 device drivers version to flash firmware G? i already have the 3.7.2 driver installed and it would be better if i didnt have to download and install the newer version.

You should be fine with the old driver :) I'll fix the link tomorrow, sorry about that.

The old driver worked and everything is fine. After all that i restored a backup and it says im on firmware C again. am i really back on C or do i have G under that?

yeah
sounds like you downloaded and flashed the firmware c packge
i believe somebody uploaded the firmware G package that can be flashed just as you just did.
Or i guess you can let your phone do the Over the Air update if you want to get your phone to G

Unfortunately i cant do OTA because of root. I usually triple check these things. i downloaded and installed firmware g. but my nandroid backup was with firmware c. Once i was on firmware g, i decided to restore my backup just to try out if it would stick. After restoring i checked and it was firmware c. for example if i were to wipe data while on firmware g, would the firmware go back to c or stay with g? because i know that i can easily change what it says on the build.prop, so maybe restoring only changed build.prop thus stating that it is firmware c.

That's not correct on the OTA updates. Mine is fully rooted and it did an OTA update to G firmware. I didn't even have to re-root. I did have to re-enable SU permissions and re patch some apps, but that's it. I was on F firmware before

Some phones will detect root while others won't, we are positive that if you removed a certain stock app, it will figure out you're rooted.

Just because you were able to OTA while having root doesn't mean everyone can :p

I see. Yeah, I left a couple Metro apps on there. Metroweb and mymetro cause I didn't have the flashed kernel so it wouldn't brick trying to remove the Metroweb and it's handy to pay bill with the mymetro app

Well, there is a change now.

It says port -1 now...

Well... Windows device manager says the phone has a "USB Composite device has a device problem" That windows can not fix automatically. That must be the problem...

Worked from another computer... so its all right now.

does anybody have a link to the firmware file that ACTUALLY works and DLs?? instead of getting the run around and downloading BS files that just add crap to your computer?? I haven't been able to find a file yet that will actually download.

Now that you've managed to brick your phone you will need to unbrick your device to get it working again. There is no other way and the files you need to do it will be at least like 610 MB of space on your computer to reinstall the phones firmware. Just look at it as doing an upgrade. Its not too difficult Just take you time and follow the UNBRICKING instructions.
