Help Weather Channel radar not working?

Is anybody able to see their local radar within The Weather Channel app? The rest of the app/widget seems to work fine, but when I go to the radar map it never seems to load the radar, and nothing ever shows up. It does load the map but there is never any rain or anything. Yes, there is rain in the area when I am doing this (other radar apps work fine), and I've checked the settings to verify that I have it set to Radar. There is a spinner in the upper right corner beneath the clock that never stops spinning, so maybe it's just not loading?

I know there are other radar apps and that Weatherbug is highly recommended, but I really like the Weather Channel radar and would really like to at least have the option to look at that one in addition to others. My husband's Incredible is having the same problem, as was the demo phone at Verizon store when we first went to look at it. I've been Googling for a couple hours now and can't seem to find anything so figured I'd check here...any info/suggestions greatly appreciated!

Have you tried Menu>map layers? while in the radar? Then hit play? Sometime it takes about 10 or so secs for it to load on mine when on 3G. If your little spinner is spinning it's "trying" to load

Yeah, I've tried the different Map Layers, and actually it doesn't look like any of them are showing up, just the map but with nothing on it and the spinner keeps going for several minutes at least. When I hit play on the radar I do see the time advancing as though it's looping a radar, just nothing is showing up on the map. Even if I zoom all the way out it doesn't show any radar activity in the country.

On my Blackberry Curve, I used to go to accuweather.com (had it bookmarked) and get an animated radar map in seconds. How can that experience be better than the one on the Incredible? Animated maps are the main thing I need for weather. I have no problem doing it via link instead of app. Anybody have a better option?

Hmm maybe weather channel app is having issues on their end in your area did it ever work before? Mine works right now I just loaded it. There are a few other weather apps specifically just a "radar app" IIRC. Check it out until you can figure out whats going on with WC. Your 3G is on or WIFI right?

It's never worked for me or my husband, or on the demo phone in the store here. We're in Omaha, NE. First tried in on Thursday 4/29 in the store and it didn't work, then hasn't worked since we've had the phones (Friday 4/30).

And yep, tried with and without wireless, full bars 3G, fully able to use everything else and get a forecast, etc. I can go to weather.com and get the animated radar there, although it's slow (and really, a hassle)...have been checking other radar apps but haven't found any I'm crazy about yet.

Thought it might be a regional thing but I tried entering a different city and it didn't seem to show anything anywhere. :(

UPDATE: I posted on The Weather Channel's Android app forum and also emailed them asking them about this problem. They said that the map overlays require an SD card to work, which I do not yet have (I bought the phone in-store and they said nothing about needing a card, since this is my first Android I didn't realize how many apps need one to work and figured I'd be fine with the 8GB built-in memory) -- I have ordered one online and it should arrive later this week so hopefully that will fix this issue.

Interestingly, apparently the Weather Channel app should have warned me that I didn't have a card available, which it did not, so they are going to log that as a bug.

Thanks for your post! I had this problem and couldn't figure out what was happening. The radar wouldn't load even though it had worked previously (before an update I believe). I think my SD card wasn't mounted for some reason and the app was installing to my internal storage. I pulled out the SD card and stuck it back in, then uninstalled and reinstalled the weather channel app, and this restored the radar functionality.

You have to set the Map Layers up first. I had this problem and this forum helped me determine what I had to do. With the layer set to where you want it, you get the "play" icon on the app. (you also have to select past or future map as well).
Thanks!

I had same problem when I reinstalled the app. I finally went to the settings menu and disabled ongoing notifications. That solved my problem.
