A place to get apps besides the play store?

So it seems Samsung has taken Kies air off the Play store. I want it on my new S4, so how can I get it? I need it to be able to sit at my computer and text people using my computer keyboard. Or if there is another app that can do that, that is on the play store, I'm all ears. Also need to be able to attach pics and such.

I personally just search for apps on Google and download them to the PC and transfer them to my phone. Rarely use the play store unless it's a paid app I want. A lot of people here use the Amazon Store, you might want to check that out too!
Of course Google play monitors apps for malware. Google search engine does not. If you find something on google search engine, it would behoove you to spend time verifying the file comes from reputable source. Malware folks can take a legitimate app and bundle malware into it so you don't know the difference.

I stick with Google play whenever possible for this reason

For op and his kies, just make sure you're getting it direct from Samsung website, not an intermediate source.

All very true! I try and download the apk files from reputable places like the Android Police site. If you can't trust the android police, who can you trust!!!!:p

Man thanks for telling me about AirDroid! It seems to work great. I hope its not one of those creepy apps, though. It did seem to want a lot of information, unlike Kies air. Anyone have any experience with AirDroid? It looks like they wanted access to my Gmail profile for some reason. I don't give google jack squat, not even my real name lol.

But its the principle of the thing.
