Root [MetroPCS] Hotspot stopped working

Got this phone in July and not rooted. I upgraded to the $60 plan and was using a free tethering widget for my mobile hotspot worked fine until I tried to use it today on my other disconnected lg connect phone. Mobile hotspot still turns on my lg f6 but my disconnected lg connect phone says wifi error "no account for ninerfaithful" (my account name) I am still able to recieve and send messages on the KIK app which is weird because nothing else works but that app. I click on metroweb and it takes me to a tmobile link page saying it requires metropcs hotspot feature. Any ideas on whats going on?! Please help!

I ran into the same problem. Even switching the user agent was no longer working, every time I would just hit the"sign up for tethering " page. I ended up just going ahead and paying for the hotspot service. I figure the gig is up and no more free tethering. (Doesn't the free tethering on custom Roms not use LTE?)

Now that I have the service most webpages are not loading on any of my devices. Such as bing works fine but Google does not. Reddit loads and all content but Facebook doesn't, etc...

I'm wondering how much of this is due to the recent hotspot change. I called and they said they're getting calls over and over about hotspot issues and they're fixing it now. We'll see...

Doesnt the hotspot only give you 2.5gb to tether? Are they having trouble with all hotspots or just the "free" hotspots?

On boost mobile gives u 6gig data at 60 a month slows down after 15 days then
Once u reach 6gig ur plan suffers for over a month big time I mean near to a crawl pushing a wopping 0.01 -0.10 on download. Careful not to go over on ur plans.

I don't really care much for boost mobile. The $60 plan is unlimited 4G lte for metro pcs, so I don't have to worry about going over on data.

I've been using tethering since June. Before they didn't let you get it on the $60 plan. They changed that to 2.5 gigs. I noticed once you used this up, you could still use it on PC if you put HTTPS:// instead of HTTP. This allowed for basic social networking, although it didn't work on some websites. It also worked on game systems too. Although once you used it, you couldn't download or update anything. You could still play regularly tho. Then all of a sudden it stopped working. I thought it was my fault cause I recently changed the user agent on my laptop to get to HTTP sites. But I guess everyone is having this problem. Doesn't work on my 360 either. So I hope this gives anyone any info. :/

Yes u do .. n u will be data capped and or throttled...

You're wrong. I've been with metro since 2007 and have had their unlimited 4G plan since when they first got it and I have never been capped. I've gone well over 60gb+ in a month downloading torrents, streaming netflix, and streaming my music from the cloud.

I was never busting ur chops remember u can't hear peoples intentions through txt, next but least if I misread or misunderstood something along the way we can blame it on my accident that had resulted in splitting my not prescription ->lenses "my natural born lenses on my left eye causing triple effect over the words".. more less I was being short with conversation not rude. Sorry if I came off that way.

Now there maybe a difference between downloading from the cloud opposed to direct download from ur mobile data now that is something I remember reading on but I'm basing this off of direct mobile data nothing else so were both rite I was never busting ur chops remember u can't hear peoples intentions through txt, really I feel that it is pending on your location

That link is referring to an alloted 4G plan ($40 & $50) so of course you'll get capped after your alloted data. This discussion has been about the unlimited $60 plan which doesn't have a 4G capp.

Bottom line is I've never been capped consuming 60gb+ in a month. That's the whole point of paying for unlimited 4G so that you can do all the streaming, downloading, and surfing you want at 4G speeds without worrying about being capped.

if you could kindly provide me the correct information cause now im interested in making the switch
cause im sick of the data caps I mean I clearly understand the purpose over the data caps but I feel if you are truely paying for unlimited! Then you should have exactly what it says maybe the term I was missing was true unlimited speeds with unlimited data...
again thank you good sir!

I modified my post to apply to boost and other's like it. that I have witnessed
do to the respects of GameTheory providing correct knowledge over this topic.
This applies to boost and other's like it u will be data capped and or throttled...

Pardone my last post if it came off as being rude.

bro im not trying to give you a hard time I know you get enough of that as it is being a developer.

I was just trying to be resourceful and helpful and nothing less basing it off of what I'am able to read.

I will never be ashamed or be afraid to admit when I'am wrong in something especially after recognizing one's higher knowledge Meaning your the one that creates and clearly shows your knowledge well. I know you just don't get your status from a candy store and I appreciate it ....

I will always choose to respect developers over the hard work they provide.:)

Means I can't choose to thank myself and or choosing like on this last post

Jaymzway likes this as well.. cheers Bro

Cool man it's all good. ;)

You can buy the phone, sim, plan, and addons on the metropcs website or you can use your own phone from another carrier as long as it's GSM. Metro has 2 types of 4G; 4G LTE and their regular 4G. When you choose your phone make sure it's 4G lte for metro's fastest data. It's almost like being with T-mobile since they own Metro.

Oh I forgot you can also activate the phone yourself to avoid the activation fee.
