Root [AT&T] Installed new ROM, now I have no cell service

I just installed CarbonRom d2lte to my SGH-I747m S3, and now I have no cell service. It has bars, but no service. The APN menu is blank. When I try to enter a new APN manually, after I tap 'save', it doesn't save, the APN menu remains blank. Tweakker's APN app says I have no SIM card.

But I know my SIM card is perfectly fine, I was using this same phone to make calls and texts just hours ago before I installed this new ROM. I have installed new roms on other phones on this same carrier (Bell) before without any problems.

Why won't my cell service work?

if no one else has this issue after flashing this rom, try wiping and reflashing. Maybe you had a bad flash.

Well I just tried two things at once, and one of them fixed it, not sure which. I installed the latest radio firmware, since I realised that I had never used the stock phone's built in update feature and by installing CarbonRom I was going from 4.1.2 to 4.4.4, there was probably some radio update that I missed.

But CarbonRom was having other problems too, like not being able to connect to my PC via USB to transfer files or even accept a charge. So I just gave up on it and installed the latest d2lte Slimrom, and then Gapps, and then the new radio firmware, and everything seems to be working fine, LTE and all.

Thanks for your attention, anyway! :)

Glad you got it sorted - and good thinking! Major upgrades (like 4.1.x to 4.4.x) generally include pieces other than just the ROM itself (like the baseband/radio, as you discovered). It's usually best to make sure all the pieces fit.

Also, I went ahead and moved the thread to the AT&T S3 All Things Root subforum (as the I747M for Telus/Bell seems to be really close to the AT&T variant). Feel free to PM me if you think it belongs elsewhere. :D

That has got to be the nicest "you posted in the wrong forum, this thread has been moved" message I've ever received on any forum. Thanks for being such a cool mod!
