Help How do you get Light Flow to work?

I have enabled it and everything but it seems that the LED light just won't work with the app, it works fine for stock LG apps like phone and calendar etc Can you guys help me out?

When you say it works fine for the stock apps, do you mean the LED works fine or that Light Flow works fine? On the assumption that you meant the LED, here's how to get started.

First you have to disable the LED from being controlled by the stock apps. The LED still has to be enabled but the LED notifications for each stock app has to be disabled.

To clarify: go to Settings, Display. Notification LED should be ON. However, then click on the words "Notification LED" (not the rocker switch) and uncheck Incoming Call, Missed Call, Missed Messages, etc.

Next, go to Light Flow and ensure it is enabled (in Settings). Then, in the Notifications section, ensure that Enable Notification is checked, and swipe over to the Light tab and ensure that Enable Light is checked, then swipe over to the Sounds tab and ensure Enable Sound is checked and set a sound.

Then test whichever apps you have set Light Flow for, see if it still isn't working or is now working.

Note/background: I used Light Flow for years on previous devices but I could not get it working on my G2. Long story short, I had to do a Reset To Factory to get it working. Yes, that was drastic but I am relatively sure that the cause was the restoration of settings stored on the Google Servers; where my Galaxy S3 settings were restored onto my G2. SOMETHING, somehow, somewhere, in those settings prevented Light Flow from working (the sounds worked etc, but Light Flow could not control the LED). I don't want to scare you off but if you do end up doing a Reset to Factory, ensure that the backup/restore settings is turned off or your reset may be in vain because what caused the issue is also restored and causes the issue again.

Having used Light Flow in the past as I had mentioned, meant that for ME, a Factory Reset and setting everything up again from scratch JUST to get Light Flow working was well worth it... I doubt I'd do that for any other app. When the wife got her G2 last week, I disabled backup of settings from Google Servers before she switched from her Galaxy S3 to the G2, and Light Flow works perfectly -- it was the first thing we tested (install Light Flow, install one app, check if it works; and if it does, proceed... if not, Reset to Factory -- that was the plan).

You also have to enable LightFlow in Settings/Accessibility - This should do it. I still have the notiifciations enabled in Settings, Display. Notification LEd and Light Flow works fine.

Good point. Light Flow does prompt you during install (?) or after going into it for the first time, but although there is an option to check the Accessibility settings -- it can be toggled off inadvertently.

Anyways, I hope it is as simple as that!

Sorry yeah I meant that the LED works fine, i'll give this a go and let you know how it goes. Also is Lightflow heavy on the battery? I've read that it can cause battery drain but I don't imagine why that would be so.

Ok so I did what you said, I unticked all the options in the LED section but kept the switch on. Then went into Lightflow and all the notification settings were checked, then when I went to test it I turned my screen off but the LED didn't turn off and my phone kept vibrating so I had to restart it.

Hi OptimusL. Test Mode aside (on some devices, I have had the test mode not even work at all yet Light Flow worked just fine), did Light Flow's notification SOUND work? The reason I ask is, that even if the LED did not blink the desired colour but it did make the sound you wanted, that indicates that the Light Flow application is working but not controlling the LED properly (plus we mainly got it for the LED, didn't we?).

In my case when I had the issue I described in my first reply, the sounds worked fine but the LED just did not work to what I had set them to. But in the end after the Reset, everything worked. BUT, if the sounds aren't working (nor the LED) then there might be hope that it's an app setting, permission setting or Accessibility setting.

As a side note: how many apps do you have showing in Accessibility? I know that on my Galaxy S3, it really did not like to have more than three apps. Something to do with the apps competing with each other to take action on the notifications sort of thing. I have three on my G2, including Talkback which I am debating on uninstalling but not sure if it would kill something else.

Haha! Okay, so with only one other enabled, there should be no issues with notifier type apps competing with each other.

Did you get a chance to check if Light Flow is using the sounds set for it (as opposed to the native notification sounds) so you can tell if the app is working at all?

Not sure what else to suggest other than the dreaded RTF -- hopefully one of the other forum members can come up with a less destructive suggestion.

Oh -- one small idea, another recommended LED controlling app is "Light Manager" by MC Koo. It's available at the Play Store and they have a free version. Disable Light Flow if it's still enabled and install this. It's much simpler to set up and use than Light Flow but of course it does much less. However, if you can get Light Manager working, then the issue is with Light Flow's setup, settings, etc. If Light Manager also does not work, then I'd lean towards something on the G2 is preventing any LED apps from working (I don't mean a hardware issue or even necessarily a OS/software issue, I just mean "something" is blocking these LED apps). If Light Manager works and you prefer Light Flow, we have something to go on, at least. Or, if your needs are simpler, you can stick with Light Manager which does all the basics.

Lightflow has worked for me since an update or two ago. Need to be in root mode and run in foreground. I don't love having it in my notification bar all the time but it's the price to pay for it working in my experience anyway.

I'm not rooted, and know little about phones, but I somehow did get light flow icons and notifications off my screen on my Verizon G2 I just got. If someone still needs help, let me know and I'll go check my settings.

another question along the same lines-I have light flow working fine, but still getting the original light from before I installed Light Flow. When I go to Display-LED indicator, my only option is to check or uncheck. Everything I am reading says I should have more options there. Does that make sense? I just want to clear out all LED notifications except my Light Flow

I am having issue with Light Flow.

1- I set up a specific SMS, contact.
2- Because I want the tone repeated x number of times, once an SMS is received, I set up all functions to do this.
3- When I test my settings (Press TEST), Light Flow continuous to play a sound until I intervene, just as expected.
However, when the contact does send an active SMS message, I only get "one" notification ring, which defeats the need of this app. All I want is multiple, repeated alerts, when an SMS is received from a specific contact; the light and fireworks is redundant for me. Any other app which does this would be welcomed.

I would appreciate a solution, please.
