Root [MetroPCS] What about CM10 for the F6?

So, if I understand correctly, if LG releases the KK source for the F6 then that will make it easier for custom ROMs (CM11) to be built, correct? I know we have a CM11 already but it is just not completely there yet (call echo & low call volume).

Considering that there is Jelly Bean source code available for F6, would a developer be able to build a fully functional CM10 ROM? Sure, it wouldn't be the latest & greatest but if it works without any hiccups that would be a fair trade-off, don't you think.

If I am way off base, please be kind.

Making any ROM is possible, the problem is finding a dev to do it.

See, most of the devs were working on KK for this phone, with a few stragglers working on JB versions, but I think most of the interest has been lost for this phone aside from a few here and there.

The phones life cycle is pretty much on its last leg so a new development at this point may not be on the "to do" list of our KK or JB devs.

As a slight recap, hroark was working on CM11, Not sure about other devs that were working on it but it seems to have lost most of its steam.
Hroark also put out the KK Euro port, which seems to be a nice version.

Game Theory made the awesome Xperion ROM which is still the most stable custom JB out there now.

The Dana Rom is also pretty decent ROM as far as I have seen, but I haven't had time to try it out. Can't remember off hand the name of who made that one (I think it was bard) but I do remember reading about them dropping their phone in the toilet so no more development on that. If you could donate a phone to him, maybe he would be interested in continuing his efforts or possibly delving into the world of CM. .

Otherwise you're basically left with whoever is left that still has a functioning f6 and the desire to keep building ROMs for it lol

Oh, and to answer the first part..

Yes, if LG releases the US version of KK, the development would be easier. Right now we have the CM11 that had been built from scratch but has its share of bugs due to compatability issues with hardware and some software snags.

If they released the stock version, The development would be easier because then do much work wouldn't have to be done just to make hardware work with the software they already have designed for this phone. They wouldn't have to go through a huge testing phase just to get things to work that we already know should.

It's ridiculous they haven't released KK for the US.

I love CM11, but I'm currently using 2 phones, one for my camera, one for my phone. It's actually working out pretty well because I can use the 2 phones, and my laptop to do more than I could with just my phone, and laptop

...most of the devs were working on KK for this phone, with a few stragglers working on JB versions, but I think most of the interest has been lost for this phone aside from a few here and there...

I understand all of that. It's just weird that my first android in 2011 (a T-Mobile LG P-509 - same as the LG P-500 Optimus One) which only came with froyo still has devs working on it. It apparently has a working CM10 & CM11 with only minor bugs (from what I can tell). I still have the phone but due to it's small screen, ram, etc... I don't bother doing anything with it. I only use it as a business line for my tenants to call me on, and it always stays at home.

I will never have a flagship device with any of the latest ROMs because I refuse to pay ungodly amounts for a phone, but I though the F6 had a good following.

I am fine using the F6 with the stock ROM or Hroark's KK port, but I really would like to use CM11 (or CM10 if anyone were to develop it). I would try but I just don't have the time to get involved in a project of that sort...not to mention that I've never done it before either. I respect and appreciate all the devs that have put their work out there for us.

But.. I suppose if enough people want it I'd be willing to consider
You are obviously free to do what you like. However, if you really can put this together quickly it would be nice. The only reason I brought it up in the first place is because CM11 seems to be a tough nut to crack (camera issues, in-call volume, vibration, reboots, etc...)

It seems since the source code is readily available for JB it should make it easier to develop a stable CM10. As I originally stated, a fully functional CM10 is better than a half-baked CM11.

All your efforts (and every other dev's) are much appreciated.
