Help noise coming from wall charger

Is anyone else's wall charger making a high pitched whistling noise when you have it plugged in? If I put the wall charger itself in the outlet without the usb cable inserted, it sounds fine. As soon as I plug the USB cable into it, it starts making the noise.

I noticed mine making a 'clicking' type noise in the morning after the phone had charged. It was about every second or two. I believe it was the charger 'testing' the phone to see if it needed any more charge or maybe a top off. I know my BlackBerry and also some Two Way radios that use Lithium Ion batteries will hum or squeal while charging and that it's normal. Usually it's the circuitry in the device itself or charger circuit that causes it. Unless the charger OR battery/device is getting warm/hot while charging I wouldn't worry about it.

This morning I thought I heard a high pitched noise with mine. I wasn't quite sure where it was coming from. I will keep an ear out for more noise

Ok I am charging the phone now, and it's nearly complete and I can definitely hear the high pitched noise coming from the charger itself. Unplug the usb cable (from the charger) and it stops. Plug it back in it starts up again... It's a capacitor type noise. This could get annoying as I often charge the phone at night next to my bed

Has anyone (who hears the noise) successfully got verizon to replace the charger with one that doesn't make noise?

This is really annoying since
a. I can hear above 15000 Hz and
b. I usually charge my phone right next to my bed.
:(

Switching polarity of the charger didn't help either. Maybe I should have waited for the Nexus One... I mean Google would test that, right?

IIRC there is no Nexus One coming to Verizon. If this is really an issue, I'd pick up another charger wall charger of a different kind and use this in a pinch or somewhere that it won't annoy you while sleeping.

its not just a "loud charger"...the high frequency squeal you hear is called capacitor whine and its not good for the phone. Verizon will replace your phone & charger because there are no guarantees that the bad charger hasn't messed the phone up. At least that's what i researched and they subsequently told me at customer care.

Does anybody notice that sounds stops when the LED is green. Last night I placed it on the charger and noticed it started making the noise after two hours. This is about how long it takes to fully charge from 25%. Although I still had a red LED.

I left it alone and the high pitch lasted about 20 minutes. That is when I noticed the LED was green and the noise stopped.

So, they have been getting a lot of these calls on it? Please post how your new phone and charger is doing.

My phone is doing the exact same thing. It only starts to make the noise from around the 90% to 100% range and once the light goes green it stops. Has anyone gone to a Verizon store and asked for a replacement wall charger? I would hate just to have my phone and wall charger replaced because of a noise that occurs for 20 minutes. It doesn't make sense to make that this would hurt the phone, it's just annoying to hear a noise that can be heard clear across a room.

I called Verizon hoping to hear them say, "Yes. We have heard of that problem and we see cases in our trouble ticket tracking system". Instead, he said he didn't and told me to take it to the store so the tech can see/hear the problem. They will handle fixing or replacing there.
