For anyone interested in changing the boot animation on their Samsung Avant, I have found a solution. This custom binary, by XDA Senior Member ajster1989 will allow you to use bootanimation.zip files. I take no credit for this mod since all I have done is package it in a flashable zip for convenience. Just flash this zip with CWM or TWRP and you will be able to use zip based boot animations. You can find the original XDA thread HERE.
Download: 152KB

I have also packaged several flashable boot animations which are the correct size for our screen. The same goes here, I only made these flashable and did not make the boot animations themselves.

No it isn't flashable. Since Samsung's stock boot animations use a different format the stock one will still be there unless you delete it on purpose. You will also need to get and install the custom binary I posted a link to in the first post. The zip with the custom binaries also has instructions inside. For the boot animation that Codyedmonson provided a link to you will need to manually copy it to /system/media and set the permissions to rw r r

Thanks for the instructions, I was trying so bad to change boot animation the old way.

One more thing where is the metro shutdown pic located so I can change it?
Trying to remove every trace of MetroPCS lol

The metro shutdown animation is called shutdown.qmg. You can move it to your SD, delete it, or rename it to shutdown.qmg.bak. If you still want a shutdown animation I have the stock one from a galaxy s5 that just says Samsung without any MetroPCS or T-Mobile bs.

Thanks again. Do you happen to know where the shutdown.qmg.cover file go or I don't need that one?
Bootsamsung.qmg, bootsamsungloop.qmg, bootsamsungmini.qmg, and bootsamsungminiloop.qmg each are part of the boot animation. Shutdown.qmg and shutdown.qmg.cover are each part of the shutdown animation. All 6 go in /system/media with permissions set to rw r r.
Will it work on Stock Deodex?
Yes it will.
