Root lost root access to my Galaxy S3 i9305.

Once deleted, lost root. The reason I root other than to learn is the freedom to get rid of the crap apps that are pre installed. Why, unless no other options, use a root method that installs it's own Su that you may not like and doesn't give you the option to replace it.
Mike, if your phone still functions, wait till you can borrow a pc and use method found on S3 forum page. A lot less headache.

Tried installing supersu from cwm. Installs but force closes as won't can't install binary. Kinguser is still in app manager all list but not available in the app drawer. Tried installing updated kinguser but won't replace the current one. Don't know what the hell to try now.

You don't need to update the SuperSU binary just because it wants to - its binary is part of the SuperSU payload I linked earlier that you downloaded and flashed from CWM.

Get Terminal Emulator, open it and say -

su

And hit return.

Do you get any sort of pop-up confirming root requested?

If you do, say yes.

What you want to see in Terminal Emulator is the $ prompt turn into a # prompt regardless of the sequence - ok to try up to three times, don't kill yourself and come back that you tried 50 times or something.

We're going for easy.

If you see that, I can probably have you out of this in 5 minutes.

Shot in the dark but could files left behind by Kinguser, kingroot be blocking attempt atlast few things you tried. Could do device search with file explorer. Search for "King". Should find atleast 3 files. Also you said you found Kinguser in sys, apps, all. Did it have any data stored or all empty?

Search for king only result kinguser.apk in system/app. Won't delete! No data stored under app manager either. pretty much at a loss now on how I could get root back. Again some checkers say I have root and still have cwm recovery etc but no root access.

It's acting like Kinguser is there but no way for you to grant permission to apps requesting it. If you try to use another root app like Titanium backup what happens?
Isn't Terminal app one that requires root permission?

Just downloaded Terminal on my tablet and when I tried same su command I had to grant it permission with SuperSu

If you rooted with king root instead of putting "su" in that folder to get you root it puts "ku" kinguser instead of superuser

When I change permissions on my root apps to denied, I get same message you get about not having root. Its like you have root but no way to grant apps permission when they ask for root access. The only ones working for you now are the ones you granted access before attemp at replacing kinguser

I don't think ku is in the xbin folder.

Yeah think so possibly

I think you are rooted and kinguser is in charge but you are not getting prompted to grant permission to new apps requesting root and that sucks.

Sure does suck. Don't know why there's no ku. Think the problem started when I tried to remove kinguser and replace with supersu. Tried installing kinguser zip but gets aborted. Might try again once new version comes out. Current is 3.0.4. At the moment have two both installed and unable to remove!

Terminal -

mount -o rw,remount /system

If that works, you can remove the kinguser apk.

If not, connect to adb and say -

adb remount

And try to delete it again.

I will keep racking my brain, try a few things with test phones I tinker with tomorrow. There has to be a way out. Good night.
