I'm looking for the easiest way to connect my phone to both a charger and an audio port. The idea of plugging in two cables just seems like a major pain in the neck, so I've been scouring HTC accessories and came up with a system of adapters and cables that in theory, should work. :D

OK, I'm basing the audio out through USB from this OEM cable.

HTC Audio Cable AC A320 - Phandroid Store

Very cool, but it now stop me from charging the phone. Ideally a simple iPhone style split cable would be all that's needed, but for some reason HTC doesn't sell one of those. (Possibly because the port can't charge and play audio at the same time).

Anywho, looking around I found this HTC contraption.

HTC 3-in-1 USB Adapter - Phandroid Store

This appears to do exactly what I want, except it's mini-usb. So my thought is a simple micro-usb to mini-usb adapter cable that would connect the phone to the port. From there I can just run a standard audio cable to an aux in port as well as a standard mini-usb charger cable. Seems simple enough, plus I could hide everything behind the dash and just have one single little cable dangling out.

Any thoughts on this? :p

The 3-in-1 won't work with a micro-USB adapter because it isn't standard mini-USB it is a proprietary HTC connector that allows audio passthrough.

Phones that use Micro-USB cannot pass audio and power through USB jack simultaneously.

I use a Kensington Bluetooth speakerphone setup that works really well. Picked it up on Amazon for $30.

if you select the incredible fromt the list of devices you get this message

Yeah, but I was curious if that was simply due to the fact that the Inc uses micro-usb while that adapter was mini-usb.

Thanks for all the info mcapozzi. That saves me a lot of hassle. Going to look into that Kensigton kit. Really wish there was a simple solution that had a fully wired dock where you just drop the phone into and everything just happens.
