From the lack of threads in this forum, one could come to the conclusion that this tablet is not very popular.

Disclosure: I just bought one today to upgrade from my aging and dying Tab 2.

So, I ask:

Is this due to the somewhat high price point (MSRP 499.99, Sale as of today 399.99)?

Are tablets going "out of style"?

Is this just such a new model that not many people have it yet?

Your input is much appreciated.

Forums tend to be detailed complaint departments...and the S2 hasn't been generating many complaints. It just runs, and runs, and runs. Samsung seems to have put together a very nice complement of features that people enjoy having in a tablet.

Of course, more people are becoming familiar with the Android system and how to work with it, so there are fewer questions.

I can agree with you on almost everything you wrote.... But, I came to this forum to learn. (As I do on every forum I visit). I feel we all can share ideas and tricks. But, alas it is not to be with the S2.. I will continue to hope and dream

Tablets are a different animal, I think most people that use them don't upgrade them as often as phones due to the expense of the tablet, lack of subsides, and cost of accessories. Also I think some stay away from tablets because they are treated like phones when it comes to software upgrades even though they are used, and priced more like a computer. How likely would you be to buy a laptop if you knew it would stop getting software upgrades in a year and a half or so?

Actually, tablets are cheaper on average than a high end phone. An S6 is well above $650, and I only paid about $320 for a brandnew Tab S2 9.7. People just don't upgrade a tablet as often because phones are with us 24/7 and we use their cameras and so on. Plus phones are mostly carrier supported, while tablets are not. (Phone contracts vs in store purchase)

That's a great deal. May I ask where you got it? New? I thought I did good at 289 for the 8 inch which included the nice Samsung case, from Costco. But now I see the deal is over and it's back up to 389, 399 elsewhere without the case. I already have a 10 inch tablet (which I just updated to marshmallow) and wanted to try a 8, but at 320 I would have been tempted. Mostly see that one for 499.

I am in Germany and electronics are pretty cheap on average. I picked it up at a local electronics store for 299 Euros which translates to round about $320 at that time. (That was last year November and it's the Wi-Fi only version though) Phone contracts are also cheap over here. You can get any new phone with only 1 Euro down, Unlimited text and call, Unlimited data with 5gig of high speed for only 20 Euros a month and they even give you a free TV with it and sometimes on top of that a mid-range tablet as well. I don't know how they are able to sell off everything so cheap but I am glad they do.
