Root How would OTA update affect us?

There are a few threads going about 2.1 OTA, and this time it seems like it's really coming. At least from some info Verizon has on their site:
http://support.vzw.com/pdf/system_update/eris_instructions.pdf

First of all, if it does come, would root users like us get it? I'm sorry if this has been discussed. Only been rooted a few days.

If not, I know we have the ability to roll back to 1.5. Would any of you consider doing this for the official update?

I love the abilities Root gives me, but i'm wondering if this will be much better and if i should try to get this and then root again afterwards...

I'm soon to have the new EE2 ROM... so if you guys tell me that what I have is just as good, if not better, then I wont even give it another thought.

Thanks for your input.

Honestly, I dont think I'd go back to stock, I rooted to the 2.1 leak about a month ago and have been very happy with it. I only had a few issues I would have liked to have work with the rom I put on it, but otherwise I dont see a reason to downgrade just for the ota update..

unless you want to be able to warranty your device, then you are screwed.

When OTA comes Im sure some one will just take it and add root to it
If you want to make sure your phone doesn't get the update go to
System/etc/security/otacert.zip
and rename it to something like
system/etc/security/otacert.zip.nothankyou
That way when it checks for keys it will fail.
I would wait on root...I guarantee that once OTA rolls out within, a few hours someone will add root to it and upload it somewhere.

Most ROM cooks turn off the OTA update. Check the details of the ROM- it's usually listed. If not ask the cook.

No need to rush and update if OTA is released. I'd wait and see how quickly it gets rooted. If you update to OTA and root takes a long time you may regret the decision.

I am on the borderline or rooting, you think that someone will make a rom that will have the latest bug fixes from the OTA update? If that is the case which it makes sense that it would happen i might go ahead and root today, i need something to waste some time.
Definitely.. When any of the leaks came out they implemented the bug fixes into their rom or they just replaced the whole base rom to one of the leak versions.
When OTA comes I can assure you that most chefs, if not all, will use the OTA as a base rom.

Some of the roms out there dont have any of the bugs that were present in the leak versions because they were ported from sprint phones. When the v3 leak came out that had the bug fixes in it, jcase made a rooted rom of it that same day. If you root, I doubt you will have to wait long for a rooted version of the OTA.

I rooted about a month ago and it has been very buggy for me so I want to downgrade to stock so I can get the ota update. How is an easy way to downgrade to 1.5 or to allow my phone to get the ota up day? Btw I have a Mac computer thanks

Personally, i would wait until after the OTA and wait for someone to get a new rom with the new version.
Unless you're willing to live without root. I cant.
