Ahh, you mean with the NAME of the phone. Well, there is technically a Galaxy Note 8.0 out there, so I bet they could still name it the Note 8. I bet no one remembers the Note 8.0 anyway :)
I remember it. Most underrated tablet. And many don't remember that the international version actually had cellular radios in it. I handed that tablet down to my mother and it still works like a champ for her.

You think they'll skip 8 too, and go straight to the Galaxy Note 9?
I was hoping that, foldable display would be ready to go for the Note 8 and they would end up offering a regular version and the foldable version would be the Note 8+ or Pro, as a true successor to the original Note 8 tablet w/phone radios. But, considering the recent interview where a Samsung exec said that it might take them a while to have a product ready for production, I'm not sure what they will do. Crossing my fingers that my thoughts will be reality, when it comes time to put together the Note 8,if it isn't already in the works.

Just think: 20 years from now we'll all have sockets in the backs of our heads and just plug a Samsung chip in. If we want to change, we'll stick an HTC or Nexus chip in. And OTAs will happen in our sleep :p

LOL...They'll have the tech, chief, but it'll cost too much for the average consumers to pay for that. The average consumer will just have to settle for "holograph" devices, that they actually still have to carry with them.

I am so sick of hearing about bendable and foldable displays it makes me sick. They have been talking about them for 6-8 years it feels like! That most recent story where the executive says they won't be ready made me eyeroll so hard I almost detached my retina.
I still haven't even seen a compelling use for it as my everyday in pocket mobile phone device, I don't think.

But I'm the guy skipping the Note 7 in the end since they made it Edge only - does nothing for me

LOL...Pyro, you're actually 100% right that they've been touting the YOUM displays for 6-8 years already. Every single CES, there's a youtube video of the Samsung YOUM displays being shown, but nothing has ever really come out of it. Closest has been the edge displays. On the contrary though, for me, I do see a use for a foldable phone to replace me having my tablet and my phone on the go. I can actually turn my tablet into dedicated car use, which I really like the concept of.
