Do you remember which Android version you were on?
The only version available that AT&T has released is 4.4.2 NF4 and if you were on a newer version, you cannot use it.

Have you tried a factory reset in recovery?
From off, press and hold power + volume up + home till tablet starts to boot then release power while keeping the other two pressed.
When in recovery, use the volume down button to scroll to factory reset then press power to select it
