Looks like the Zmax Pro and other ZTE phones may get Nougat soon

I'll probably wait a few months before upgrading to Nougat if ZTE pushes it out. I've had bad experiences in the past with upgrading to newer versions of Android and my phone just not being as good as it was on the previous version. Whether bugs, crashes, it being slower, the battery life just taking a dive, etc. I think I'll just take the wait and see approach. I'm very happy with Marshmallow so I'm not that tempted to a first adopter.

I usually take the same approach. But geez, any upgrade at all would be better than the MM in this phone, so I welcome anything and would immediately accept it.. Anybody remember upgrading from KitKat to first release of Lollipop? What a nightmare that was.

As for Nougat, I've read about more cons than pros, but they all say it's nice otherwise. Wish I had a newer Nexus to try it out with, looks like original 5 owners are excluded from first dibs, despite being very capable of running it.. :( Stoopid Google

An update to the ZMAX Pro is in the works but is currently not ready for roll out. We'll have more information when it becomes available.
"

It'll probably be another couple of weeks before the update starts rolling out.

I think ZTE is trying to change their image. They're a very successful company, 4th largest phone maker in the U.S. I believe.... so it's about time they earn some respect by providing OS updates.

Absolutely. Didn't know #4 in USA but the quality, reliability I experienced over 3 devices makes me not surprised.
Change the oil and reboot every 72 hours and it runs issue free. I've had issues with iPhone, big issues with Samsung and paid to much for them. The Axon is almost 500 bucks but still within reason. Would love one but swore off anything over 200 bucks. Luckily there's pro and such cause not much else at all for 200. I was amazed at the 99 dollar pro promo. Jumped on 2 after all the solid use zmax gave a friend's of mine. For now, ZTE is my phone company. Respect is there. Going to keep my eye on a promo for Axon. That's some asskicken phone.

If your phone works fine now I'd be careful about allowing any software updates. They've lost my respect due to crappy firmware and because their customer service absolutely sucks.

Yeah I managed to fix my Zmax with B12 but still... First impressions are lasting. I may look into the smaller version of the Axon because the larger version of that, and the Zmax are just too damned big for my liking.

I'm just curious as to what info or whatever might have cause you to feel contrary to the very accurate info you replied to. Only curious, no proving anyone Wright or wrong here.

That is a very fair and proven warning. Now I can state that I do not remember a negative aspect of an update since even my iPad. Have every one after that. My android updates on phones and Samsung galaxy' tablets of various models up until a SS galaxy tab S2 recently took aboard a marshmallow version ota and it just gets sharper Imo.
That's why I say there must be as many or more non complaints owners than complainers or problematic firm ups. I say update your device unless you been negatively affected directly. I hear of flicker improvements. I never seen a single pixel flicker or black screen back bleed of light... Nothing. BTW, my iPad had much back light bleed over the edges of screen. I got a new one many weeks after unboxing.actually happened twice with an apple but no update link to issues ever. Android also. If your afraid to then when do you feel OK with going ahead and updating ?

Oh btw, if I'm going to list issues with an iPad 3 , I should say that amazingly an iPad 3 bought in 2008 on launch day that year is still going strong today Jan 2016. Taking a great charge no issues but some scroll lag. Heavy as a brick but I use it to kill it but it won't die. Androids are all great. I'm new to them. How common could an 8 year tablet be? I know , this is ZTE talk. No discussion or reply needed. Excuse me.

I don't know know about 8 years old but my wife still has her 2013 Nexus 7 at it works just fine. That tablet came out in March 2013. It's been almost 4 years and I don't see a reason why it would stop working any time soon. Running official Marshmallow as well. There's unnoficial Nougat for it too. But yeah Apple products do seem to last a lifetime. My ex roommate still has the same laptop from 7 years ago and it works just as well as the first day. For what you pay for them, I wouldn't expect any less. I think he paid $1700 for that thing lol

Apple has had issues with iOS 6 and 7 updates with iPhones. Maybe less reported issues with updates, that's because Crapple only releases updates here and there as opposed to Android and carriers releasing new updates every other week, it seems.

ZTE has succeeded in making me second guess any updates that come through to two of their devices I have the misfortune of owning lol... But ask anyone here about ZTE's Box o' chocolate updates. Fixed mine, broke many others ;)

Lol... Yes you'll get get Nougat. Wait. NO. You won't. We're simply using you for feedback, Stoopid...

Good luck with that, no amount of time invested in their $hitty B** 6.0.x firmware is going to make it a better experience. Even the sloppiest, broken cut of CM 13/14 unofficial test firmware would be better than that.

FFS, ZTE blows. No wonder they're slashing jobs. That big hole in the bottom of the toilet is fast approaching eh?
