I agree, which is one of the reasons that I returned my shell/holster combo. The sitting position is the most dangerous because like you said, when you get up you can push the phone out. I hate that it doesn't have a clip on top to hold the phone in. The extra step to release the phone would have not been that big of a deal. I liked the holster for my enV Touch because of that.

I agree with the OP. I have had this shell/holster combo since I got the phone. After less than a month the phone is very loose when putting it into the holster. If it turns upside down it will fall out. I am waiting for Seidio to come out with their spring clip holster so I can get rid of this piece of junk.

This is where I dropped the phone. Shuttle launch pad after a launch. It gets kind of toasted. Lots of repainting to do. (Taken with Dinc)

Okay so people are complaining about what happens when they have the phone upside-down in the holster or are wearing it on their belt while driving.

In other news, I got this beer mug but every time I shake it around vigorously, all my drink falls out. Clearly this is a design flaw. I also don't get why it is that whenever I sit on the toilet without putting the seat down I fall in.

Actually I was going to post something similar... got a good laugh out of that. No holster is perfect. I've noticed the same thing about my shell/holster combo as the OP, and I just make sure that it stays vertical and that I take it off when I'm driving.

For what it's worth, I've had the Seidio springclip holsters for my three previous HTC phones, and they have the same problem in a different way: if you wear them while driving, the clip hooks on the seat belt and unclips the phone when you take your seat belt off.

Just pay attention, and your phone will be secure. I've had HTC phones for 6 years now, and I have never damaged a single one of them. Why? Because I'm careful and pay attention to what I'm doing. Just my 2 cents.

My point is it's a holster, not an armored lockbox. You have to be conscious of what you're doing. Keep the phone facing up and don't put it in any weird positions and you'll be good.

Personally the driving thing is a moot point since I put it in a cup holder in the car. Why would you have it in the holster while driving anyway? That'd be REALLY awkward to get to if it rang.

Oh, let me see, I buy a phone holster but everytime I sit down, if I don't take the phone out first, it falls out, but that is not a design issue. You don't work for Toyota do you? Guess I need one with a latch.

Thing's never fallen out of mine while standing up, nope. But then again, I keep mine vertical. Speaking on straight physics, there's no way for the phone to drop out unless the OP is holding it at an angle where it can slide out, and if that's the case... well again it's a belt holster.

I agree but it doesn't mean that this particular item isn't very good.

I am waiting for Seidio to make their holster because after using them on 6 different phones, they are the best IMO. They hold the phone in safely and securely.

BTW, I do as you do and put the phone in my cup holder so I can get to it.

I am thinking a can of rustoleum, and you will be good to go. That is cool, and amazing how quickly oxidation sets in after the extreme heat.

The exhaust from the solid rocket boosters is very corrosive and we are right on the beach, with all the salt in the air. Crews get right on it after launch and wash everything down and then sandblast and paint.

i don't even use the holster part. just the shell, which is very nice by itself and will hold me over until the seidio innocase comes out. only thing i don't like about the shell is that it doesn't fully cover the top corners of the phone, so those are susceptible to damage if dropped at the right angle. the sides and most of the bottom is covered though. if it did cover those areas i would be all set with no need for the seidio case.

as far as the shell scratching the sides of the phone when removing it, hasn't happened to me yet and i've taken it out of the shell many times switching sd cards and what not. however, it is possible for any case to scratch the phone while removing it if dirt/sand gets in there but the case material by itself will not scratch the phone in normal use.
