OnePlus has come out to confirm that the device will be laid to rest on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Users had been hoping for a Nougat launch at some point, but it seems those expectations can now be laid to rest.

Yes, OnePlus are quite open for development, but even with this company not everyone buying the phone is into that. And development beyond the last major release can be more difficult or less satisfactory as driver problems can arise, so even for the modding community it is not good news.

But the big issue here is that in June 2016 they promised that the OnePlus 2 would get Nougat. A year later they discontinue support without that happening. They just promised that the 3 and 3T will get Android O, but how much confidence can you have?
