I'm a very light user and multi tasking has been completely eliminated on my phone since the last update. I've been into phones since I first jailbroke the iPhone 3G in 2008-2009 and ever since than. This phone is acting like a 256 mb ram phone when doing anything that involves switching out of my current app. Everything refreshes. Let's say I open Gmail and than notepad, bam Gmail reloads like I never opened it before and same for the previous app. Close all apps out and go to a internet search and than to my home page, bam when I go back to internet it reloads like I never clicked on it before. I'm staying around 400-500 mb free ram or at least that's what the phone says. Performance seems normal. To be honest it acts like I went into developer options and chose 1 service running.

When you have 1 manually opened app and 400-500 mb free ram and go to your home page and go back to the app and it completely reloads something is wrong.

I've been on this phone since day 1 it seems, well over a year of ownership and haven't had issues until this last update. I update 24-48 hrs after every release. So can I do anything to fix this. I don't know if it's OOM programming or if ZTE allocated everything all backwards or what but this is a useless phone without tiny multi tasking

I understand what you mean, I had the same problem on the first LG Stylo. I couldn't even send a text message without the browser having to reload the whole page after.

Since you said the recent update, did you recently update or did you update a while back? Additionally, did you perform a full factory reset? I didn't need to after the update however some users said they needed to.

Yeah without root no way to change CPU/GPU settings so workarounds are your best bet.
1 Package Disabler.apk ...disabe bloatware
2. Adguard.apk.....for in app and browser adblocking
3. Material Status Bar Pro.apk .....for Android O stylo notifications and drop down menu../.Status.apk ....for status bar customizations.. YES The O Animations do work with 90% of the toggles Woking on this device.
4.Adb shell command ...wm density 290 or 380 my dpi is set to 290..
5. Busybox no root.apk
6.SetCPU.apk to set a profile to max out 2 cores of the cpu. set it to 1516..
7.Developer options set all Animations to OFF and use force GPU rendering...
8.Use a third party launcher. /Nova Prime is my preferred launcher with pixel icon pack.
This phone actually runs like a flagship ..I have no lag issues ..tether speeds are fantastic... Metro finally hasn't throttled my data at all..I see fast data on this phone all day even during peak hours. unlimited plan of course..
Lastly, disable stock MMS apk and phone.apk and download the pixel dialer and any MMS.apk of ur choice.

I am seriously wondering if the b20 update loaded this phone with bots and/or spyware, because my phone is stripped down to a top-speed setting but behaves as if totally overloaded since the b20 update. I run very few apps and have all animations off, etc.

On b8 n b14 my phone worked pretty well...and apparently ZTE intends to give no further updates beyond this b20 sabotage.

I can't imagine ever buying another ZTE product at this point.

Wow i guess each user has a different experience with the b20 update.
This phone has improved since the update on my device. Maybe because my zmp was shipped with b14 out of the box. Not sure though.

Im using my LG G stylo 2 Plus Rooted on Nougat 7.0 and I gave my zmp away. GOOD phone I just need root/administrative rights on my devices. I bought it I should do as I please per androids open source. I new this phone was unrootable untill Marshmallow has a system exploit. Till then twrp, unsecure boot.img and dm-noverity.zip with su.zip, are the only systemless root methods available on 6.0.1.

What I do remember though, using the paid version of setcpu.apk. After you open the app touch recommended settings then it will give you no root error. Just touch the screen on the side to allow you to enter the app. Dont hit ok when the error pops up. Then exit the app. Then reopen the app and hit the icon on the top and set your profile. I set my profile to 1516 mhz and 100 priority. Then save and tick the two options at the bottom to enable the profle and set it to run on boot. Thats what I remember.
I also recommend the app norootbusybox.apk.
