Anyone using Android Oreo beta version on Samsung note 8 ??

How's the performance/feature and updates when it will be released globally for all note 8 users .

I think its a UK think only so far from what I read. All the links had UK in them. I've heard Oreo on note 8 in America by February maybe

According to what I'm reading, the Oreo beta program is ending on the 15th... and hopefully the official rollout will happen shortly thereafter. One Exynos Note 8 user is reporting that they have already received the OTA, but Snapdragon shouldn't be far behind.

You read it here first, folks! I was speaking with a Samsung customer service representative last evening, and asked what the status is on the Android 8 update for the S8 and Note 8.

I was told that there are a few bugs that have to be worked out... but as soon as those issues are resolved, the Galaxy Note 8 Oreo update will be the first to get pushed out! I asked for clarification: "so the Note 8 will get the Oreo update before the S8?"

And the answer was "Yes"!

So stay tuned, Android enthusiasts! It's coming soon!

I believe the update you just got was the January Security update. Chief is saying that the Note 8 will get the Oreo (Android 8) update before other current phones.

Well the beta just ended. And based off the last 4 versions. Every time the beta ends the ota drops 15- 30 days later

I'm pretty sure that Samsung had hoped to have Oreo out the door already... especially since Android 9 is due to be announced in three months. But there is no timeline for bugfixes: you work on them until they're done.

I know this is wishful thinking, but the Verizon January Security update dropped with everyone else's this time. Maybe the Oreo update will be as expeditious?

I'm sure they're feverishly working on it. No doubt they're flooded with calls asking for it, and they're motivated to get it done and shoot it out the door to shut us all up!

The latest news is that the Samsung Oreo update is causing some issues with the S8 and S8 Plus... so the Android 8.0 rollout is currently at a standstill until the problems are isolated and resolved. And THEN the carriers get to play with it for a couple of months before they send out the OTAs!

The note 8 will receive the update by March 30th

All networks, all countries, all regions.

Locked or unlocked.


This comes from people close to the situation.
I live in San Diego and was on a flight with someone who works on the software. And even he said he doesn't know what the hold up is, every issue on beta was fixed weeks ago.

The holdup is Verizon, which has a mandatory 90-day waiting period for major system updates

Well I have sprint. And haven't received an update on any of my play store apps in about 3 days. Which usually means their is an ota update coming within a week.

Or I hope so.

Err, there's no connection at all between Play Store app update availability and OTA update schedules. I'm afraid you've read way too much into a coincidence that happened in the past.

Well I'm running oreo on a lg nexus hammerhead, and i'll tell ya now, It's nicer looking than nougat, but other than the layout of the UI and settings and such, it's not much diff. than nougat...

As a public service, I have a few tips for you - to make sure your transition is as smooth as possible. This isn't a minor update but a major system upgrade, so you'll want to make sure that you are ready for it. Take a few simple steps to make the upgrade smooth and painless - and enjoy the new features!

BACK UP YOUR DATA! Back up everything. Use Samsung Smart Switch, Carbon or other app to back up as much as you can. In the event you DO have to factory reset the phone, you will have minimized the loss of data.
UPDATE ALL YOUR APPS! Many apps have been updated to get ready for Android 8. Make sure all apps are up to date.
LEARN THE NEW FEATURES! Android 8 has a lot of new stuff, so you'll want to make sure you're aware of the changes on the other side of the upgrade. Here's a list of the changes from Nougat to Oreo.
CLEAN UP INTERNAL STORAGE! This is a HUGE download... make sure you have plenty of room for it. Clear out old files or move them to the microSD card.
COMPILE YOUR LOGIN CREDENTIALS! Chances are that a lot of apps will log you out during the upgrade. Have your login credentials ready... this is where a password manager like LastPass is a wonderful asset.
