Insurance ideas that insures against on-person theft

I'm looking to get insurance but not sure who to go with.

My last phone was stolen from my pockets whilst I had a night out in town. I've been reading and lot of companies won't pay out for this

You are looking for SPECIFIC insurance needs. Have you personally reached out to any local insurance companies in your area? Do you have any home owners/renters insurance?

I dont know where you live but I live in the US and I have film and audio production gear that have coverage from theft on location and stored remotely (meaning not at home).

What was the circumstances, were you pickpocketed, or perhaps got so drunk that you can't really remember what happened to the phone? Because the latter might be seen as negligence.

Maybe. But I've heard so many stories of expats losing phones, and many other worse mishaps after having "nights on the town". Put that on the insurance claim form.

I do think there are "no questions asked" policies, but you'd pay a premium for that kind of coverage. Perhaps to the point of not being economically logical.

Insurance companies do business using the same strategies as casinos. You are eventually going to pay.

I'll throw this out for what its worth. My Visa card carries insurance on my devices (up to three) and theft is one of the coverages. I get this perk if I pay my Visa bill online. This coverage comes through Visa and not my bank. Couldn't hurt to check. I had no idea it was on the account until I was talking to someone else with the same bank/card and they told me. I went online and looked and sure enough, I had the coverage also. Its a remote possibility, but still a possibility. I did not have to apply, just pay my bill online.
