Off-topic What's your favorite verse in a song?

Mine is :If a man could be two places at one time,
I'd be with you.
Tomorrow and today, beside you all the way.
If the world should stop revolving spinning slowly down to die,
I'd spend the end with you.
And when the world was through,
Then one by one the stars would all go out,
Then you and I would simply fly away.....

It's because this really touches my heart

I've always liked the Telly Savalas "Kojak" version.

Feel the breeze?
Time's so near you can almost taste the freedom
There's a warm wind from the south
Hoist the sail and we'll be gone
By morning, this will all seem like a dream
And if I don't return to sing the song, maybe just as well
I've seen the news and there's not much I can do alone

Queensryche/Empire/Anybody Listning?

Why? Why does anything speak to us. It touches my heart. The way it's sung is both melancholy and hopeful.

Band: Queensryche
Album: Empire
Song: Anybody Listening?

Wow ok I wasn't familiar with this band, I had to look it up and see what the song was like, it's a pretty good song kind of put you in the mind of Rush or Styx whom I'm a big fan of and I'm always on the lookout for new to me but old to some music. Thanks for sharing this :D

Long story short, bought Operation Mindcrime , only did listen to it once with my ex wife, we broke it off seven years ago, she and I lost touch for a long time, used to be really comminted to each other.

Guess what I been there and done that and I found everything that happens is for a reason, but for the most part it made me a better person in the end compared to what life would have been like if I didn't go through the ordeal.

The verse is the bit that repeats itself right? This song repeats itself but it's different so I don't know if I can pick any one bit as a verse. It has a lot of meaning to me though so can I choose the whole song? It was originally written and preformed by David Bowie but I'd never heard it until I listened to the Nirvana cover. So here's the story then. I'd pretty much thrown my life away with things I can't really mention here. I wouldn't be lying if I said I'd said "I wish I was dead" a few times. After years of depression I got diagnosed with cancer. Funny how the good wishes never come true right lol. I won't lie, a bit of me thought that this was my way out. One day I woke up slightly happier than the last though and went for the chemo. Despite completely draining my body and mind of every little bit strength it had I could see the end of the tunnel after 15 months. That's when my uncle bought me a few CD's. Maybe I'd spoken to him when I wasn't with it but I don't think I did. Anyways, he gave me the only two nirvana albums I didn't already have. Honestly I finished chemo happier than I'd ever been in my life. I've been unhappy since but depressed no. Anyways the song's called The Man Who Sold The World. I honestly don't know what Bowie meant when he wrote it but I've always taken it as finding the guy I was before the shitstorm. Anywho without further ado here's the lyrics ;)

We passed upon the stair
We spoke of was and when
Although I wasn't there
He said I was his friend
Which came as a surprise
I spoke into his eyes
I thought you died alone
A long long time ago

Oh no, not me
We never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world

I laughed and shook his hand
And made my way back home
I searched for form and land
For years and years I roamed
I gazed a gazeless stare
We walked a million hills
I must have died alone
A long, long time ago

Who knows?
Not me
I never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world
Who knows?
Not me
We never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world

That's a great song by both artists and may they both rest in peace. I kind of knew you was talking about this song When you mention David Bowie and Nirvana, but I kind of like Nirvana's live version preferably. But isn't it strange that music can take your mind off a tragic situation or incident and soothe the body just for those few minutes as if nothing had happened at all. I hope and pray for all cancer survivors because I have had a few people that that dreadful disease has taken away from me forever. I commend you for sharing your story and your song.

Question!
System Of A Down
Sweet berries ready for two
Ghosts are no different than you
Ghosts are now waiting for you
Are you
Sweet berries ready for two
Ghosts are no different than you
Ghosts are now waiting for you
Are you, dreaming
Dreaming tonight
Dreaming alright
Do we, do we know
When we fly
When we, when we go
Do we die?
Sweet berries ready for two
Ghosts are no different than you
Ghosts are now waiting for you
Are you
Sweet berries ready for two
Ghosts are no different than you
Ghosts are now waiting for you
Are you, dreaming
Dreaming tonight
Dreaming alright
Do we, do we know
When we fly
When we, when we go
Do we die? Yeah
La la la la la la la la
Do we, do we know
When we fly
When we, when we go
Do we die?
La la la la la la la la

This is a Grandmother memory of mine, we where just sitting in the car, waiting for her, I turned on the radio, found this song playing in the car. She said "My goodness this song is really beautiful, Milo, who sings it?"

"System of a down." Almost since the debut album, I remember picking it up at the local farming station, wich I still find pretty ironic, thought way back when it was just a "country station all the time around the clock" state, I was like in tune of the band, there are some memories of my father and grandmother within this song though, we have that certian question we all have to ask ourselves.

Are we eating sweet berries passing time?

My fav lyrics and song is from a kid who didn't seem to get much recognition for this early 2000s classic.

One Voice Was Heard

Some kids have and some kids don't
And some of us are wondering why
Mom won't watch the news at night
There's too much stuff that's making her cry

We need some help
Down here on earth
A thousand prayers, a million words
But one voice was heard

A house, a yard, a neighborhood
Where you can ride your new bike to school
A kinda world where mom and dad
Still believe the golden rule

Life's not that simple
Down here on earth
A thousand prayers, a million words
But one voice was heard

One voice
One simple word
Hearts know what to say
One dream can change the world
Keep believing till you find your way

Yesterday while walking home
I saw some kid on Newbury Road
He pulled a pistol from his bag
And tossed it in the river below

Thanks for the help down here on earth
A thousand prayers, a million words
But one voice was heard

One voice was heard
One voice was heard

Theres a strong message in the words of this song:

Wake up, everybody
No more sleepin' in bed
No more backward thinkin'
Time for thinkin' ahead

The world has changed
So very much
From what it used to be
There is so much hatred
War and poverty, whoa, oh

Wake up, all the teachers
Time to teach a new way
Maybe then they'll listen
To what'cha have to say

'Cause they're the ones who's coming up
And the world is in their hands
When yyou teach the children
Teach 'em the very best you can

Code:
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.
So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.

"Time" by the great Pink Floyd, wake up kiddies!
