I am trying to find the thread about David Lucas, the store manager for sprint. I know he is giving all sorts of deals if you pre order the evo from his store. I am very much wanting the 25% off and no activation but I can not find the thread anywhere. It is almost like it disappeared! Am I just not searching in the right spot?

Actually the OP of the thread requested the thread to be closed because alot of members were accusing the whole thing as a scam or fraud by giving the buyers a 25% discount on the life of the contract. Although everything checked out with the transactions, the OP felt he was getting too much flak over it so it was deleted per his request.

Also a forumer (or two) alerted Sprint about this and apparently, they're looking into Mr. Lucas' activity.

David is a personal friend of mine and did absolutely NOTHING unethical or fraudulent. He was giving us a chance to be added to his waiting list to make sure we all have our evo's come launch. He did the same thing for me on the launch of the pre and i had it the night before everyone else did.

Furthermore, David NEVER advertised on here personally. I am a marketing consultant and came up with this campaign for 2 reasons:

1) To offer android forum users in South Florida the chance to reserve their EVO's which many did.

2) To bring David some business in return for the exceptional customer service I have received from him for years.

David NEVER committed nor stated anyone would receive 25% off. If you read my thread closely it said "UP TO 25% OFF." Based on employment and the type of company you work for, David is able to offer you a discount which can be UP TO 25% off if you are eligible.

The port in credit is something that Sprint is offering now to entice users to switch from another carrier. It is a step in the right direction for them by staying aggressive and competitive in the marketplace.

The reason why I removed the original thread is EXACTLY what twospirits stated... I was constantly receiving flak from all the haters.

With that said, those who contacted David and were able to be added on the waiting list, I will see you on the 4th and if I don't see you, enjoy your phones!

As for the haters, you can thank them for ruining it for everyone else on here. Hope this cleared up some of the concerns or questions you had.

Best Regards,

Brian

Quick sidenote: I contacted David as well, everything was official and on the up and up. He only stated we would look at what discounts I might qualify for based on my employment when we open up my new Sprint account just before the launch of the EVO.

He didn't commit to "guaranteeing" anything other than he believes he will have enough EVO's in stock at his store to make sure I can get one.

I think Evoman was just trying to help his buddy with some sales, help those of us in the forums to possibly get a better deal than we might get somewhere else, and I for one appreciate it.

I believe it was all done in the spirit of this forum, which is to help others get educated or get ideas on all things Android and in this case all things EVO.

I think if evoman had simply added the words "Up to 25% discount depending on your employer", a majority of the flack would have been avoided.

There's been a lot of shady threads in the past about people trying to unethically accrue discounts, so I don't blame anyone for showing doubt or questioning the previous thread.

Better to be cautious than naive.

I would agree as would anyone on here. I think the issue was when people were casting doubt, flat out calling it illegal, fraud, and whole bunch of other things, and they had no idea what they were talking about.

I took about 53 seconds to look up on Sprint.com to see if there was actually a store there, I then wasted another precious 42 seconds calling the store to ask if David Lucas was in, he was and was currently with a customer, they asked if they could take my name and number and have him call me back, I then took the time to actually call David back and get the skinny on the EVO. And as I mentioned previously, all he promised was that there would be an EVO available for me to purchase.

Maybe the wording could have been more specific for some people, but I guess the fact it took about 4 minutes total time to verify was just too much to ask. But that is the beauty of the internet, nobody is accountable for anything they say.

I appreciate anybody trying to help someone get a better deal on things, how many threads are in this place about what to buy, where to buy it, how much it costs, and how to get a better deal on it? I'll tell you how many: A LOT!

I sorta get a chuckle at evo's posts in this thread vs his posts in the other one. Here he sounds like a mature adult, there well, not so much.

I sorta get a chuckle how I spend my time wisely on here sharing valuable information with many forum members, and haters like you waste precious time by ridiculing yourself instead of offering informative insight. You sir are the reason why there should be a no thanks button right next to the thanks button. For the record, I am a mature adult who happens to take pleasure in assisting others who take the time to appreciate an opportunity placed before them. Excuse me for not passing your code of standards or gaining your seal of approval. Maybe you should take a cue from AMC because sometimes "SILENCE IS GOLDEN!"

Criticism is valuable when it is constructive!!!

It just struck me as funny that we find out you're in marketing after reading the thread is all. You post very differently in this thread than the last.

I'm not hating. If I was in Florida I'd have gone to see your buddy too. Just making an observation. But, I digress. Carry on...

Apologize for calling you a hater, but you can't imagine the amount of flack I have received and the frustration I am consumed with regarding this EVO fiasco. It got to a point where it is not even enjoyable any longer. Honestly speaking, I always try to look out for others and always will but, I just don't understand why so many people hate. Anyways, didn't mean to get off topic and go on a tangent. We are all here to share excitement and passion and I hope you enjoy your evo. Again, I sincerely apologize for jumping down your throat. Just having a bad day buddy.

Well on that note, being that the OP's question was fully answered by members and staff alike and that the short tick for tat was also resolved, I will therefore close this thread.

If evoman, decides to have the original thread re-opened, we will have no problem doing it. But for now there is no reason to continue this thread.
