Oh my... can you imagine the chaos that would follow - the very thought of allowing people to play with HTML on their personal pages!! Pure madness I tell you!

It was such fun back then! Even though I've had my own domains and web sites since the early '90s, MySpace was fun to play with.

And I'll bet its antiquated security did a FAR better job of protecting its users' data and privacy than fb does now.

Absolutely, I remember have lots of fun with Myspace. Some of those pages tho... animated gifs, huge header images, bright pink backgrounds with white text... oh the pain!! My searing eyes.

Agreed--except for the Internet Exploder part. I never used, or wrote for (since I couldn't test it), IE. I was very involved with the 'any browser' campaign, and proudly displayed their banners and links to their site. (I hadn't thought about that in eons.) My how things have changed!

Studies have shown that people who are heavy social media users are more depressed than others, feel more alone/lonely, feel isolated and inferior, etc. It actually has the opposite effect of what users expected.

One can say that for just about any social media. Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Youtube, Weibo, VK, etc. And it's not exactly a recent thing, ..e.g. Myspace....a space for ME ME ME ME!

Internet forums, they're social media. People regularly post on AF about themselves, their things. their opinions, "Look at my brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 10", etc. AF has a "look at my selfie" thread.

This is all true--but the NON-like that posts outnumber them by A LOT. AF isn't a place primarily used for showcasing one's picture-perfect life--the perfect kids in their perfect poses at some perfect vacation spot; its main purpose, which it does well, is to talk about Android.

If people here are bragging about their shiny new Note 10, it's likely that they're happy and excited about it, and want to share those feelings with fellow Android enthusiasts. On places like fb and ig, it's like the whole point is to see how much you can outdo others.

By the way, my helper's new S10+ came yesterday, complete with a drool-inducing terabyte of storage. It's slick and beautiful and...oh...never mind...

I'm a heavy Twitter user--but not AT ALL involving the garbage we're talking about. I don't follow the Kardashians or care what pop-idol-du-jour has to say.

I use it to communicate with like-minded people, and to spread the word, on issues that matter to me, including animal rights, veganism, politics, women's rights, climate change and photography. I follow a few celebrities, but only like-minded ones, such as Sir Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono (who follows me!).

I'm really happy for you that fb made that possible. I had a similar experience. I actually created a new account because I'd been searching for a dear old friend, and found her on fb. But in order to connect, I had to have an account. We connected, and quickly shared our phone numbers, addresses, and email addresses, right before I got sick. She called me in the hospital, early on, when I was in a haze. I barely remember the conversation, but her reaching out to me in that moment meant so much to me. We've since spent hours talking on the phone!

It's funny that Facebook began telling people why they should let the FB app access their location around the time that Android 10 and iOS 13 were released. Because prior to that it could grab their location in the background and they'd never know, but now that users receive notifications when it accesses your location while you are not using the app, and are asked whether they want this to continue, suddenly they discover the value of "transparency" (i.e. giving a good cover story to try to convince people not to just cut them off from such valuable data).

(One of the things I prefer about Android 10: having the extra control to let me allow an app to access my location but only when I am using it. Though there are no circumstances in which Facebook get my location)

lol and old version 6.0.1 api 23 Note 4. Obituary not that secure to begin with then facter in root and a permissive kernel. Security, whats that? lol
Anyway, used a root file manager app and whent /system/priv-app/SNS-v2 changed folder permutations to 0767 and uninstalled Samsung Galixy system app but left the folder. As for why I left the folder and changed permissions to 0767. Its just something I began to notice when looking custom stockish roms from different developers, at least for my device, debloated in this manner. Messing with System files is extremely risky and not for the novice root user.
I should mention System Uninstaller app in by itself to delete system bloat created instability issues. Decided to use a different approach that of 0760 permission. Works much, much. much ,much better, like Night and Day.

Facebook at least in this case and Samsung Galaxy system app is Samsung Electric Corporation method of weaseling there way into your social networks and harvesting your personal info. Nothing to be concen about in newer device.

Sorry I missed your question, Well not to brag but check this out on Marshmallow 6.0 datk mod Pay Store V16.9.10 Honestly, dumb luck stumbling on this bu chance. 2 parts Xposed module reboot and Now is Google play these is a new setting called theme and toggle to dark but did nothing. What was missing was another setting in developer options to change theme dark mod. I have no such setting. A few days late not even thinking about this in F-Droid or G-Droid notice an app call Night Mod didnt think it would work but downloaded anyyway. To my surprise it worked , so far three updates of play Store and still themed. Individually as stand alone have no effect. I have leard "Google giveith anf Google takeith away" lol

I had a Myspace account whilst doing web sites, on Internet exploder and pyrofox..... Yeah those where the days, of where I hacked into wireless, back around one random day, I accidently unplugged my modem one time, and got into a chat that used some sort of wireless fidelity thing too, I was always testing it.
