Can't pull down notification bar in portrait mode

Hi,

Seen this thread around a few times but none of the answers have permanently resolved my issue.

've see this thread posted a few times but none with solutions that help me.

So essentially I am unable to pull down the notification bar on my phone when it is unlocked in portrait mode in my Galaxy s8. But I can do it in portrait when the phone is locked or in landscape when the phone is unlocked.

I did a factory reset which temporarily fixed this issue but a while after setting a lock screen / password and restoring my data it just stopped working again. Since I was able to temporarily do it however it does make me think its not a hardware issue.

I have also tried booting in safe mode - where I am able to do it. Once I restart my phone after doing this I am able to pull down the notification bar as normal for around 5-10 minutes, but then it just seems to stop working again. I can't understand any reason why this would be happpening.

Does anyone have a solution that actually works? This is driving me nuts.

Hi,

It does work when I boot in safe mode. Then it also works once I've done that and reboot my phone in regular mode. But after five minutes it just stops working again and I can only pull down the notification bar in landscape or when my phones locked. I don't understand why it just stops working again. Very confused.

are you using a custom launcher?
I don't know what a launcher is, so I assume I just use the default

Hmmm... Hard reset, it is usually volume up and power button for ten seconds, go to where the android with triangle, hit the same sequence and do a factory reset.
Is hard reset different than factory reset? As I said I already tried that and it fixed the issue temporarily but then it just started again.

IT is different than a factory reset.
It can help you eliminate the problem. In less time too, you can google it for factory reset.

It sounds to me that you may want to check

Settings
Accessibility

and see what all is ON there.

Anything ON in this section can and will slow a device an arbitrary amount- and this can cause all kinds of weird and hard to track down things to happen.

I had an issue where when I would change the volume, the volume slider toast would pop up but stay on for a really long time.

Like for 30-40 seconds, when it is only supposed to stay on momentarily after the adjustment.

After months of this, I discovered that I had too many apps using the Accessibility service, and this was causing the volume adjustment toast to stay on for an extended time.
