EVO and signal strength

I'm presently with T-Mobile and have excellant signal strength where I live. I have pre-ordered an EVO from Sprint but now finding out my neighbors who have Sprint all only have one bar on the signal meters of their phones even though the coverage map shows "good" for a signal. Am I wasting my time changing to Sprint even though I really want this phone? Thoughts anyone?

if you have a bad signal you can either return the phone within the 30 days or request an airave to increase the signal in your house.

So having one bar would not be acceptable? I have to port my t-mobile number over, and if I won't be able to stay with Sprint then my number will be lost. I just want to know if the phone will work with one bar on 3g?

It depends. Oft times I have what looks like zero bars and my Hero makes and receives calls just fine. In 5 years I have never had an issue with Sprint service... Except for During Hurrrican Katrina but all the towers were down. Where are you located? Find out how the rest of your area is?

I guess it would, but what about the quality of calls with a low signal?

Again I have never really had a problem. But justblike with anything it can vary. I travel a lot and always have a signal. Remember you have 30 days to fully test the phone and return it for a full refund and they tear the contract up so you have nothing to lose. Except maybe a restocking fee since i don't know if they charge that. Or get an Airave which I think is 4.99 a month and boost your signal considerably
