Help is keeping 3G Mobile network off bad?

I've found that my battery life is dramatically improved when i have the 3g off. Some of the apps that need it will auto turn it on when needed ex: Handcent for downloading MMS. I only turn it on when I need the net or an app that needs it on. does doing this mess with the Android system itself or is it all good? I'd rather have the battery life than anything else.

Should be all good, just syncing won't occur until you turn it on.

MMS's are not sent through 3G, as normal dumbphones can get MMS.

It isn't bad, although some apps may lose functionality. But if you say those apps automatically turn on your sync feature, then you should be OK

If I'm "completely" wrong then I will show you a MMS on my dumbphone which does NOT have 3G. Would that be better? I may be misinformed if it can also go through 3G(please cite a source if I am) but it can definitely use 1x considering dumbphones can get MMSs.

i am pretty sure you completely mis understood what he said.

He means that MMS dont need 3G as they can be sent to phone that dont have 3G. So shutting of the 3G connection shouldnt matter for MMS as it can go out via 1X etc also

3G is just the data, so MMS can be sent using 3G or the older 1X.
