Hi All.

Anyone using the above satnav software on their HTC Desire?

I purchased this at the weekend and took it on a couple of hours jaunt yesterday, only for the thing to lock-up my handset after approximately 1hr. I did try a couple of more times, but again it locked my handset up. The only way to get the handset working again was a power down and reboot. Which wasn't the safest of manuveurs whilst driving.

Does it download the maps too though? Doesn't it need a data connection to download the maps as you go?

It only needs to download extra data if it needs to re-route you (when you drive off the pre-set route). Of course, if you don't have wifi for the return journey, you will need to use mobile data to download the route data.

To be honest the amount of data is reasonably small. I did nearly 200 miles on Saturday, using five different routes and some re-routing and, including all my other use of the phone's data connection, saw less than 10MB of data usage. I didn't use wifi. 31 days at 10MB is still way less than a meagre 500MB monthly allowance, and I have 3GB with T-Mobile. I really don't worry about mobile data any more. I don't use it for really intensive stuff like video streaming, etc. I've had my Desire for 3 weeks now and I've only used 140MB of mobile data.

Actually, I bought CoPilot 'cos I'd had it on my HTC HD2. Worked very very well on there and also on my Desire. HOWEVER, only today, discovered Google Maps Navigation and I'm very impressed. Not taken it on a decent test drive yet but so far it looks really useful. I didn't understand what it was before I got excited about buying CoPilot (again) at a cost of
