How do I put the entire phone on Vibrate? not just the ringer...

So when I put the ringer on vibrate it only vibrates when my phone rings, text, email or anything all just remain silent. How do I change it where everything I get makes my phone Vibrate?

I believe you can do that from the lock screen. Flick the slider to the left and it turns all sounds off.

EDIT: Scratch that, I just tested it out and it didn't even vibrate, it just turned the phone to silent.

Each of the applications (SMS, Email) has their own ringer/vibrate settings. Go into the settings and set vibrate on each one.

I downloaded Ringer Control Widget. It puts a widget on the Home screen. Tapping it gets you ring, vibrate, and silent, in that order.

Also, if there's a certain CONDITION under which you want the ringer to go to vibrate, check out Locale. It's a great app that uses your location (derived from GPS), the time, etc. to set another condition such as your ringer volume. It can also do Wake-on-LAN and lots of other things. It's excellent.

SMS for example to put that on vibrate click on the Messaging icon and click the menu button (idk exactly what it is called but the one with 4 lines between the back and home buttom) and go to settings. at the very bottom you can turn on vibrate for messages

If you turn the volume down using the buttons, the last thing before silent is vibrate all. It's nice to have that on if you are using the phone for an alarm clock. Otherwise anytime you get a notification, your phone will make whatever noise is set. The alarm will still ring when everything else vibrates.

On your phone, when you hold it in vertical mode...on the right side of the phone near the top, there should be two volume control buttons.

Use those and it should control the universal sound control of the device.

I dont have the phone, but I did notice those two buttons when I was messing around with it at the vzw store yesterday.

I do put it on Vibrate through the control buttons on the side, but only when it rings it vibrates.. sms and everything its just silent

you have to set that up in each program. That's different than setting the phone on vibrate. If the box isn't checked in the program in question, it will not vibrate.

Well, hmmmm, I guess thats good for ultimate flexibility, but, I'm not sure I want that much flexibility. A default of the phone's ringer setting would be much more user friendly, then maybe allow an override if you want something different than the phone's ringer setting. That's just my opinion....

when you set the ringer to vibrate, you're setting the phone ringer. The device has multiple volumes that are independent of each other. You're thinking the ringer option is the equivalent to main volume, which isn't quite accurate. When my ringer is on silent, the alarm volume is still at full, which is a very, very good thing for my work schedule

I would like to be able to turn ALL sounds to vibe with one action. When I go into a meeting, I don't want to have to reprogram several different parts of the phone and then have to reprogram them when the moment I need it on vibe passes. I appreciate the versatility of being able to independently turn down only one item, but most people who turn it down or off want it all off or down. Does the ringer control widget cover everything? I was in a meeting when I had just put it on what I thought was silent via the volume rocker on the side, then my alarm clock went off in the middle of a meeting.

There is a app you can download called "vibrate mode by force" It has three different setting selections. #1 is "never silent" it prevents the phone from going to total silent all mode. # 2 is "never ring" it prevents ringing but allows the silent mode. Checking both options prevents silent and ring mode and is vibrate only. I always use this app. Especially at work and in meetings. I just wish there was an app that would allow me to turn off my email and messaging vibrate at night without going into the individual accounts.

Try Silent Mode:
Press and hold the power button. This will open an option menu. Select Silent Mode. This puts everything on vibrate. There is an option in Alarm that will override this, but that can be unchecked.
