How do I root my CDMA Hero?

I want to root my CDMA HTC Hero so i can recieve/send MMS msgs, but I don't know how. It would be great if someone could walk me through it or direct me to a place that can. my spec are as follows.

Provider: Ntelos
FW: 1.5
Basband Version:1.04.04.10.09
Kernel Version: 2.6.27-6bc66721
Build Number: 1.55.581.2
Sofware Version: 1.55.581.2

Hope that helps. I know that from what I have read, there is an issue with the MMS/SMS sometimes, after rooting/ flashing a custom rom, but I think they have it sorted out.... GOOD LUCK!!!
