Help app won't uninstall or delete

I don't know how this app called telmap navigator got onto my phone, only noticed it after I installed laucher. It's even in a different language, it doesn't come up in the list for uninstalling or managing applications and when I use astro to track it down to the system>apps and try to delete it that way it says error.

Anyone know any other methods?

I think its on there when you get the phone, its a default service isnt it...dont remove it before you confirm that its third party.

its on my phone as well.

Ha. I shouldve read the post properly. It's a built in application for navigating. Yup. Can't Uninstall

Where did you get your desire? Youve never noticed the blue arrow icon in the application drawer? It is on as default. You sure you have a UK handset? Your locale is set to UK in keyboard and language? What network are you on?

I'm wondering if your answer to the last one is Orange UK, but its just a theory

Yeh the blue arrow icon is the default one but there is another one that has a diamond shape on a road called telmap navigator that's the one I can't delete. 100% UK handset from o2.

I only have the blue arrow in the app drawer and I only have temp in manage applications. This is normal. If you now have both in your app drawer I would suggest launcher has made something that was previously hidden visible

Thanks for the help anyway, it's just a pain sitting there, in the app menu, the ugly thing. I hope 2.2 will wipe it.

Wow - I thought I was going insane when I found that on my phone and no one else seems to be talking about it ... this is really wierd, no one seems to be mentioning this hidden bloat, and considering how long o2 took "testing" it is quite appalling they seemingly accidentally left a german navigation app on UK phones.

i've got an UK o2 htc desire straight from their business website and have this german telmap software too.. any info on how to get rid of it??

O2 (Germany) signed an agreement with Telmap to provide what I believe is free SatNav to O2 customers. As far as I'm aware this agreement was for Germany only, hence the German language (which I haven't been able to change), so I have no idea why it's on O2-UK handsets.

Itt's not doing anything, but it shouldn't be there :)

OK - so it isn't "doing anything" but surely that space would be available if it wasn't there? I get a lot of "out of space" warnings on my desire and yes I would consider myself a more aggressive user than most, but most of the space isn't been taken up with apps!

I hate to say this, but I suspect this will be my last android phone, the fragmentation issues, the sheer 'operator interference' etc.. (I just wish I could put up with Apple enough to pay the premium for iTunes bloatware.)
