Accessories Is there an MP3 Car Radio adapter?

I highly recommend the Pac-Audio iSimple aux input box. It is an fm transmitter with one huge, important advantage. It sits between your car stereo and the car's antenna. When you turn it on, it cuts the antenna signal, so all you get coming through the radio is the signal from its transmitter. There is no noise or bleed through from outside FM at all.

You can get the IS77, which is the full kit including ipod cables, or just the bare box IS31. With the IS31 you need to get the IS335 cable kit, or just supply your own rca>1/8" cable.

Installation is not that tough depending on your skill and car. Hardest part for me was getting the antenna cable out of my deck and then getting the box's antenna lead back in

you can get a brand new aftermarket Pioneer deck that has aux in for that price off of ebay. would also come with usb, which the Evo can also play music through.

With late model vehicles it is often very difficult to just swap out deck as so many other things are tied into it including navigation, the vehicles entry system, Onstar etc etc.

How does the EVO play music through USB? You probably mean using it as a storage device.

I was hoping to find a way to get EVO audio (Nav, sounds, podcasts etc) out of the usb port as I was on my MyTouch3G. Having an audio cable popping out of the top of the EVO and running down to my AUX input is really annoying. Looks much neater from the bottom.

The FM transmitters in those aren't so hot. The wired FM modulator will virtually eliminate static and interference.

Some vehicles with an XM/Sirius or CD changer input can often get a true aux in unit that will be a direct input and give you much better sound than either the fm transmitter or wired modulator. Usually a simple $20 wiring harness along with the aux unit which is about $100 give or take is all that's needed. Splice into power or get a fuse tap and you're all set. Did it in my MDX for about that price and didn't even have to take the radio out. Just took a bit of stretching and reaching with the arm and fingers to actually pull the plug and plug in the aux unit. No installer needed.

If you live where I live (NYC area) those things are totally useless. Probably the same in other major metro areas. There isn't a spot on the FM dial that doesn't have a signal. I used to have to change the channel 3 x on a 20 mile trip to work with a similar device. It would be clear for a few miles than another station would kick in.

I have a GM vehicle and use a P.I.E. AUX adapter and it works fantastically. The only problem is the EVO because I have to run a cable from the TOP of the phone to AUX-IN. Looks really hooply. I'm hoping someone will discover a way to get audio out of the USB charging port like the MyTouch3G had.

If your stereo has an aux input, you can get a simple 3.5mm cable to hook up.

I'll chime in. This is a stupid easy way that works great. I got a cable at Radioshack for about $8 (I think it's a 9 ft cable). I connected it and used "A Online Radio" from marketplace to get online radio stations (shoutcast). I had to tune the frequency for the bass/mids/treble since I never used the AUX/AV-IN. Works and sounds fantastic (I have Polk audio all around and a sub).

My car doesn't have an aux input or a cassette player. I did have a Wired FM modulator installed for my Sirius radio. So i guess my only choice to play MP3s or Apps like Slacker in my car is by purchasing a FM Transmitter?

Can anyone with knowledge tell me if any of these would work with the Evo in my situation ? :

I use a iriver FM Transmitter in my car and it works pretty good, some of the cheap no name ones on ebay are junk. Here is a link Amazon.com: iriver AFT 100 Mobile FM Transmitter: Electronics you might be able to find it for a few bucks less somewhere else. I paid $17 W/ shipping on Buy.com.

this is 30 bucks without shipping and taxes on amazon, buy.com and ebay. what is the difference between this and all of the other links i showed earlier? this is what i am looking for but i just want to find something less expensive . the ebay links won't do the same thing this does?

Once again, can anyone confirm if any or ALL of these would work with the Evo if I am just trying to use it as a MP3 player and trying to stream music like from the Slacker app?
