Just set up Google Voice as it was just announced as being available to the public. Pretty cool, IMO.

You can choose your own phone number and then forward the incoming calls to whatever devices/numbers you select. It will also send you a SMS or email of all messages in text form from people calling if they miss you. You can block calls and lots of other features too.

I'm not sure how it works.... it says that it's set up, but whenever people call me, it just goes straight to some kind of google voicemail... so I gave up! lol

I have had it for about 3 months now and works great, I have it set up to make only international calls to Canada, but all you need are in the master settings, go to your Google account from a PC and go through all your settings there are many options there, like how to turn your V/Mail off, sending text message alerts, and a bunch of other option, you can also have a widget on your Hero, that will allow you to toggle through the GV call options, like use GV for only international calls, use GV for all calls, ask weather to use GV before calls etc... also when you set up your GV account for the first time, you can actually use your own phone as GV, I have not done that as it was not an option when I set up my account, but a friend of mine had that option a month ago and both his cell and GV are the same number now, pretty neat, hope this helps you

I got the message pop up letting me know I couldn't auto set Voice for vvm and had to forward calls manually via *28 and the voicemail number. After doing that I tested it from a friend's phone later and received a message along the lines of "account not set up", can't remember specifically. I did find that there are two other codes to try *74 and *75, so I did those and will report back after I get a chance to test it.
