How do I save things into my SD card (pics, vids, etc.)

I have I think a 16GB Micro SD card. But I can't seem to be able to use it. I can't save nothing on it, and when I installed this app Astro, a file manager, I still couldn't do nothing with it. My apps are saved to my phone, and the pictures I take with my phone and the videos are also saved into my phone. Only songs are saved into my SD card.

Am I doing something wrong? or is the Micro SD card only made for songs, and not the pictures and the videos and the apps? I have an app to back up my information called m:IQ, and there it says I used up 46% phone memory, and only 2% of the Storage card. So can anybody tell me what's wrong exactly?

Thanks in advance.

OK, so far in Android, ALL apps are stored on phone, should be fixed with Froyo.

Don't believe that your pics taken by the phone are on the phone, they would have to be on the SD card. Try and take a picture without an SD card installed, won't work for that reason. Look for a folder on SD card called DCIM. Using Astro, or from your computer, click on that folder Should find another folder called 100Media, Your pictured and vids should be in that folder ON your SD card.

And welcome to Android Forums too.

Welcome!
Let me see if I can explain this without screwing up too much. I am not exactly a tech wiz. If I understand right, the version of the android platform we are running right now is called Eclair 2.1 and soon we will get an over the air update that you will install on your phone that is called Froyo 2.2. With each update the developers improve the platform to include new goodies, like with Froyo comes the ability to install your downloaded applications on your memory card, allowing more memory for more applications to be downloaded. Most people here get really excited just thinking about it so that must mean good stuff is coming.:)
