HTC needs to fix the headphone and volume function of the 3.5mm jack on the Hero. Wired headphones are recognized only intermittently (I tried several, then after a reboot, one worked).
Volume is way too low. One of my complaints with my old HTC Mogul (WinMo 6.1) was low volume; hello HTC, do we have to buy an iPod just to get decent playback? BTW, I'm a fifty-something techy, and listen almost exclusively to podcasts, rather than music. I'm not looking for early deafness or a hearing-aid replacement, just being able to hear podcasts somewhere other than in a dead quiet room.
Regarding Bluetooth: why no support for BT across apps, rather than just when on a phone call? Why isn't listening to any media (music, podcasts, video) supported on a mono BT? Apparently this is an Android issue (Google, you there?), as I can't find a hack anywhere on the web regardless of the phone model. Funny thing is that I had a Motorola Q9c for a short time, and it worked perfectly for this out of the box (but wouldn't let you hang up a call).
So,
* Repair of headphone recognition
* Reasonable volume output to any wired or wireless headset/headphone
* Consistent playback to any attached device, including changing between calls and playback on a given device.
This can't be that hard.
