Root [Guide] Removing stock apps

Enter is second row (from the top) all the way to the right.
It doesn't actually say enter on it.
Good luck, you have some guys in here with great knowledge helping you out, they helped me a lot when I had questions

You know, it's sad, I was hitting that hook arrow and it says 'not found' so I'm thinking my phone isn't rooted. Also I think it's causing my internet to act funky.

Thanks for the advice. :)

Ok what you've go is stock DE03 with joey's recovery. No telling what kernel is in the pack but its in the SDXCusomKernel.zip. Place this .zip on the root of the sdcard and boot into recovery (vol down. + call + end) and apply zip from sdcard. Once its all done reboot and you should be rooted. I would reccomend going to the sdx custom kitchen and downloading your own .zip file with the new recovery 3.1.1 and current kernel of your choice (no doubt the one in this pack is old).

When I installed the Titanium Back up it says 'Sorry, I could not acquire root privileges. This application will *not* work! Please verify that your ROM is rooted and includes BusyBox, and try again'. I'm not Android savvy and have no clue what BusyBox is or what it means by my ROM not being rooted but I'm guessing my phone isn't rooted.

I'm pretty sure busybox wasn't added to my video. That could be the culprit.

I don't mean to sound stupid but what in the world did you say? I have no idea what you mean when you said "Place this .zip on the root of the sdcard and boot into recovery (vol down. + call + end) and apply zip from sdcard." I don't know what the heck is 'root of the sdcard mean'. The last sentence "I would reccomend going to the sdx custom kitchen and downloading your own .zip file with the new recovery 3.1.1 and current kernel of your choice (no doubt the one in this pack is old)" What does that mean??
I'm truly sorry for sounding like a complete idiot but when it comes to electronics I'm a complete idiot. I just don't want to do anything stupid by messing up my phone. All of this is getting me more confused than ever and if I'm getting this way, it's not worth it. I do want to thank you for having the little patience you may have left in dealing with me. I seriously and truly appreciate this more than you know.

OK, step by step........
*The root of the SD card is just the card. Put the sd card from your phone into your laptop and drag the file into there. Do not put it in any folders.
* The kitchen is here
Haxsung SDX Custom Custom ROM Kitchen
Build your own rom if you aren't sure about something just skip it and it will do nothing. Download this to your desktop and this is the file you will place on the "root" of your sd card.
*After you have this on your SD card and the card is back in the phone....before turning on your phone hold down vol down>call>end call all at the same time and keep them down until you go to recovery screen.
*select apply zip from SD card
*pick the zip you just made
Once again, you have some great people here with a LOT of patience helping you out. They know way more than I do DNTESINFRO has been a HUGE help to me through this entire forum, plus he has a ton of patience. You are in good hands with him. Just take a deep breath, relax and follow his instructions step by step.
You're doing the right thing, if you aren't sure.....stop and ask.
Good luck

Its all good, it took me a while to get it down too (and everyone else). Lets start with the root of the sdcard....this means directly on the card not being in a subfolder (or any folder for that matter). Example : lets say we have a file in "C:\Program Files" - C: would be the root drive. In our case sdcard is the root. The steps would be plug the usb into the computer and phone, you receive a notification that the usb has been connected. Pull down the notification bar and select the option to mount. Open my computer and open the drive for you sdcard - place the .zip file here.

As far as the sdx kitchen if you go to the page i linked above you will see all kinds of options and cool logo's and apps you can select to be removed etc. Simply select the options you would like to include in you custom rom and click download at the bottom of the page, the kitchen does the rest. Once the .zip is downloaded place it on the root of the sdcard and boot into recovery mode to install it.

Which brings us to recovery mode. If you turn the phone off (power down or pull battery) and then hold the following buttons in this order. Lets assume you are looking directly at the phone for orientation purposes. Vol down (left side of phone bottom button), call (green, front of phone bottom left corner, also the answer button), and finally end (red, front of phone bottom right corner). Once you see the boot logo appear you can let go of the buttons. This should put you in recovery mode, if the phone changes to the boot animation pull the battery and try it again, its finicky sometimes. I've never used joey's recovery (the one you have) so i cant say for sure what the menu's look like but there should be a backup and recovery option for /system and /data as well as a apply zip from sdcard option. The rest of the stuff you can leave alone until you become more familiar with the recovery console.

LOL, why didn't you all say so! OK. My phone has the green martian and it says Haxsung on it. Does this mean I'm rooted? Guys, you are so awesome. I can't thank you enough for bearing with me. If you told me to build some 16x18" false prosceniums or some platforms then you would be speaking my language. Sadly I'm not fluent in electronics but I have a butt load of gadgets.

Not necessarily, this means you have a custom boot logo (unless your taking about the recovery console background). In either case this can be achieved without actually having root privileges in android. If you loaded either the .zip that came with your root pack or created one with a kernel from the kitchen you should be rooted. Using the connectbot method to check for root should yield better results for you now.

Having the SDX logo doesn't mean your phone is rooted. The same thing can be accomplished using a custom kernel from the kitchen which can also be used to remove stock apps.

On my phone:D. J/K. I downloaded some weather widgets that weren't showing that it was installed and it's no big. It wasn't working anyway. I tried an experiment to see if I could download the HTC's HD touch weather app. I can't.

Widgets don't show in the app drawer i don't believe. In order to see the widgets you have to long press on the home screen and go to widgets.

Actually all the custom kernels from the kitchen ARE rooted. You can create .zip to install a logo (broken at the time of this post) or remove the apps listed in the kitchen without a rooted kernel. If you read the guide in the OP these apps are noted very clearly but there a plethora of other apps that the kitchen won't remove and are for the most part useless. I appreciate you trying to be helpful but giving bad/wrong information serves only to confuse those less knowledgeable even more.

Well, how on earth can I tell if my phone is rooted. I was able to remove some stock apps with that stock app remover(beta version) after I put some kind of kernel on my phone. The stock app remover wouldn't let me remove anything before that. You can't remove any kind of stock apps if your phone isn't rooted. I tried about six different apps with no luck. Also because I put that kernal .rar file on my phone, booted it, and did some other stuff I was able to remove some stuff. So if you can tell me why I wasn't able to remove any of those useless apps before how come I can do it now?
