co pilot 8 on htc desire

I have copilot v8.2 working on Froyo (payandgo on O2) I had a problem with it crashing untill I changed the 4GB SD card with 1GB free to an 8gb one.

So far, no crashes but cant say for sure that this solved it.

btw is shows it's taking up 22.73 MB on phone, that's with Europiean maps.

I also had Radardroid installed which worked well, but I uninstalled it after realising that on an hour long journey I had used

I'm trying to get a refund for mine.

I had a run up to Norfolk from the wilds of Essex t'other week - 105 miles, just over 2 hours.

I restarted the phone before I left to make sure as little as possible was running in the background. Battery was at 48% when I left and I am using the HTC official car dock with the 1A charger. Phone locked up twice en route and had to be restarted by my co driver ( the wife ! ). The battery was at 38% when I arrived. I did have bluetooth turned on also.

I had previously done the same journey using Google Navigator ( and bluetooth ) and the phone managed to charge from 50% to full on the journey. Data use wasn't that bad, about 40Mb or so - my plan is to stick with that.

Currently embroiled in a 'discussion' with ALK about a refund. According to them once you enter the serial key you cannot get a refund. I am educating them on the UK distance selling rules...

I installed this yesterday, noy used on any long runs yet, but the voice seems to be "clipped" with bits missing from words, anyone suffering this, I have tried changing voices but this does not affect it.

Also is there anyway to keep the map showing rather than going into the safety screen all the time, I like to keep an eye on where I am, also have found it very useful when driving on unlnown roads in the alps in thick fog at night to warn me of upcoming bends!

I've recently installed the latest version and generally very happy with.

It got me to my destination in Powys Wales!

However, when planning a route on the enter city or postcode screen it has a list of my previous destination cities.

When I choose one from the list it comes up with 'Multiple Cities Found' and a white screen with X or <.

How do you correct this ?

Yes that safety view disabling is not obvious and drove me nuts for a few days. If I remember correctly you need to re press the 3D button which appears on the same settings menu. For some reason, best known to co pilot designers you cannot toggle off via the safety view button.

Today I got my repaired HTC Desire back. They exchanged the motherboard of it and a first test confirmed to me, that Copilot runs more than 1.5 hours without any problem!

Anyway there is a new issues that I have to solve:

I can't activate my Copilot licence, because on the "old" motherboard of my HTC I didn't deactivat it before reparation. Now I have another motherboard, therefore another IMEI and the software tells me to deactivate on the old mobile before activation. Obviously I can't do this.

Are there any solutions?

Cheers -hoepsi-

I'm using Co-Pilot on my unlocked HTC Desire in Montreal, Canada. No crashes, but if I have music playing, it does seem to interrupt it as I press the buttons on the Co-Pilot interface. Mostly okay, decently happy with it, navigation is okay too, but I have not tried it on longer routes yet. I have a 16 gig SD card, so plenty of space for the north american maps. I use a 1 amp car charger, and it seems to keep up with the power consumption of the GPS just fine. My gripes so far are these:

1. It told me to take a left turn on an intersection on downtown Montreal when it was clearly marked as a "no-left turn" intersection.
2. Biggest gripe: Audio output does not support the headphone jack. While my music is blaring on the car audio system from the Desire, Co-Pilot only uses the Desire's built-in speakers. While they are great indoors, on a moving car, its pretty wimpy. I can't hear the voice instructions worth a dang.

Compared to Navigon or Tomtom on the iPhone I still think Co-pilot isn't as good, but that maybe just my perception. I'd say for $20, it's an excellent buy, in spite of my gripes.

Cheers,
J
