Hi all had my galaxy S for just over a month and it's a great phone until last night and today when it has started to lock up on me. I have had to remove the battery to kill the phone and then restart it. When it has locked up it displays the following message.
Activity Phone (in process com.Andriod.Phone) is not responding
Any one had this happen and what is the cause of this, what do I do to resolve it ? or is it a repair job. Any help would be great as I have had to restart it 6 times today.

what applications have you installed on the phone?

worst comes to worse you are going to have to do a factory data wipe.

make sure you remember your gmail username and password so if you do have to wipe you have that info ready.
also a small backup go into your contacts list, press the menu key, choose more, select import/export, then export your contacts to the SD card. this makes a backup of all your contacts onto the memory card so if anything happens you can still get them.

This has happened to me twice.

I called Verizon and was told to take the phone in and just get a new phone since I had it less than a month.

The sales rep at Verizon wanted me to repeat the malfunction. I explained that I already removed the battery and had to reinsert it before coming here (which is a temporary fix). Since I couldn't duplicate the malfunction he would not take back the phone. I asked if I could get a new phone to replace this one, such as a Droid X, and he said that I would have a pay a $35 restocking fee. I asked what if I just want to replace it with another Fascinate, he said that is not allowed unless a malfunction can be seen.

He says that ALL smartphones lock up every now and then. This was Verizon by the Northridge Mall (Los Angeles).

Hi here is the answer to my lock up's I have installed the lastest firmware from samsug, which has given the phone an all clear for the last eight days or so. It also has more features than they old one like tells you how many messages you have with a number above the icon and colour on the menu screens. I installed the firmware with the Kies software a bit of a ball ace it took about 20 minutes but seem to have done the trick ! But I have a new problem which I will post seperate
thanks to all who replied
