I see. Would you be able "reformat" the phone and load Myn's Rom. I know with my blackberry I was able to perform a low level wipe and then reinstall the OS. Is this possible with the Evo?

That's asking for a brick, if you ask me. When switching roms, wiping data/cache/dalvik is all you need to do. Trying to do anything else is just asking for trouble.

Did you wipe data when you flashed the rom the first time?

I wiped the cache partition and dalvik cache using Clockworkmod before the Rom install.

The problem is that my gf phone would randomly lockup and reboot after the Rom was installed. So I restored her phone to the state it was in prior to the ROM using nandroid. But her phone continued to lockup and freeze. So I want to do a clean install of the ROM again and give it a try. I think maybe her long term use of task killers may be causing her problems. I had her uninstall them prior to the ROM install.

Well, it would make sense that you would have issues if you didn't wipe data. You should always wipe data before switching roms, unless you're upgrading a rom. And even then, it's recommended a lot of the time.

As far as it still freezing, have you tried wiping cache/dalvik since the restore? Try that, first, and see if it helps. If not, your best bet is to backup all apps with titanium backup, wipe all data/cache/dalvik, then flash a rom of your choice with a clean slate. From there, restore only the apps you need, and set your settings manually again. It may take some extra time, but it's probably worth it.

Thanks!! I'll give it a shot. Any need to move data from the SD to a pc and reformatting the card?

Ok, so I reinstalled Myn's ROM to my gf phone last night. I cleared data/cache/dalvik. Then we reinstalled a few apps via Titanium. The rest of the apps we manually downloaded and installed from Market. The phone seemed to work pretty well but for some reason when she opens her internet browser it just closes after few seconds. I even tried to flash the RLS3 browser from Myn's page but the same problem occurs. Any ideas?

been using Myn's since the beginning with RLS1 and I'm impressed more and more with each release. He really does listen to what ppl want and asks our input on features he plans to implement. RLS4 is fast and smooth and the stock HTC kernel has surpassed my expectations after calibration. Right now I'm sitting on 20hrs with just the first charge after flashing the ROM.

What setting do you have on your evo to optimize the battery to last that long? I have myn 2.2 RLS 4. I have SetCPU.

By chance did you beta test Myn's beta rls4 and then flashed the final rls4 right over the beta? When Myn finally released 4, he mentioned it was ok to flash over the beta. So I did, and ever since then, my phone has been a brick. Random reboots, bootloops, freezing. As you've seen my other thread, no matter what ROM I flash whether it be customr or stock, the problems are still there. I'm convinced the phone is a lemon now so I'm sending mine in for repairs at BEst Buy. I'm done trying to resolve it (after weeks). Good luck man.

No, I've been using final RLS4 for everything. Same file on my evo with no issues.

Anyone else have any issues with the browser just randomly closing while using this ROM?

I had that happen once after flashing netarchy 4.2.1 cfs havs. It went stopped when I cleared cache and reflashed it. Maybe do the same, but if you haven't flashed a different kernel, reflash the rom, but wipe cache/davlik only, not data.

Yeah, I just loaded the stock kernal with the ROM. I also cleared out the data, cache, and davlik prior to that flash. I also noticed that when I loaded app brain and tried to run it the same thing would happen. I would open it and a few seconds later it would close on its own. When I installed the ROM last week all I did was clear the cache and davlik but she started getting random reboots. Right now I just restored her phone using nandroid using the backup I made prior to the flash. She has a task killer installed and she says her phone is working fine now. I think I might just ditch the ROM idea for her phone, lol. The only thing is that she likes the interface and all the customization she can do with the ROM, lol

Hello, long time lurker, first time posting.
I've recently rooted my evo and loaded myn's 2.2 rls 4, with kings #9 kernel.
everything is amazing, rom is speedy and beautiful, awesome battery life.
however, when i go into reboot into recovery to install something, i run into a problem.
when i restart, it goes into a constant reloading of the rom. loads, hangs, reloads...
i have to take the battery out of the case, wait a bit (like a minute) and restart. once it restarts, everything works flawlessly.
should i wipe clean and reload the rom?

I'm having problems installing some apps.
Angry Birds, Angry Birds Holiday Pack, NeoCore FPS test...

Other apps install without problems. Only started when I used Myns.

Thoughts?

It helps troubleshooting when you can be more specific about what the "problems" are.

Does the install itself fail or are you having problems with downloading and installing from the Market? If it is Market related, try logging into Google Talk and then going back into the Market and restarting the download. That usually fixes any Market related download/install issues I'm having.

You can also try to download the .apk from an alternate site and install it from within Astro or some other file manager. If you cannot install that way then you know it's something more significant than Market issues.

I have all of those apps installed without issue and have been using Myn's ROM since RLS1.

So it looks like we found the cause of the self closing browser. It looks like the hulu rom was the issue. There are two hulu files I downloaded. The one that had rls4 in the name that came from the xda site caused the problem. I reflashed the one named 10-1-105-6 from warm updater and the issue was resolved.
